January vacation - Page Text Content

We loved Chateau Bourbon Wyndham! Great location - wonderful rooms and delightful neighbors!

New Orleans is one of the world's most fascinating cities. Steeped in a history of influences from Europe, the Caribbean, Africa and beyond, it's a brilliant mosaic of culture, food and music.

Dining is a passionate art form in New Orleans and we didn't go wrong with a restaurant recommendation from our chauffeur!

Being on Bourbon Street on the first day of Mardi Gras, always January 6th, adds a whole new dimension to the word . . .

The custom of above-ground burial in New Orleans is a mixture of folklore and fact. | In reality, the vaults are more due to French and Spanish tradition than they are to water table problems.

What an incredible city, full of , , ,

We sadly bid goodbye to New Orleans, a vacation in itself - but eagerly look forward to the next chapter in our adventure with a delightfully urbane chauffeur and a wonderfully indulgent limo ride to the ship!

Thanks to Gail, we board with the priority group and are soon pondering what to have for our first lunch in Spirit's main dining room - it all looks delicious!

After a first day at sea, spent learning our way around the ship and relaxing, we have a wonderful dinner in the main dining room, and enjoy our free bottle of wine!

Love being rocked to sleep on a ship! When the sun rises, we're up for a stroll around the deck and a fabulous breakfast. We're ready for the adventures awaiting us in Costa Maya!

Good food after a day in the sun! Tomorrow Belize!

Cave tubing in Belize - what an amazing experience! Our wonderful guide, Dimples, answered all our questions about the country, and treated us like royalty - even carrying our tubes for us! Not one other group got such special service - and how wonderful were the caves, in and out of the darkness!

Back to the ship for rest, libations and more good food!

Roatan is one of the Honduras Bay Islands, located on the second largest barrier reef in the world. For those of us who love to shop - it was a not-to-be missed experience!

Who hasn't dreamed of meeting a dolphin face to face? The Bottlenose Dolphin is a very social creature and amazingly self-aware, meaning they recognize themselves in a mirror, as few mammals, other than humans, do. They comprehend both human verbal language and hand signals, and this ability to learn what is, to them, an artificial language seems to enforce the concept of their superior intelligence. Our dolphin, Fiona was delightful!

This profound experience happened in waist deep water. Fiona, a pregnant teenager in dolphin years, greeted us and allowed us to playfully interact with her one on one. We came away from the encounter thrilled and enriched, having experienced what few others have had the opportunity to do. And the fact that Fiona and her over twenty pod-mates voluntarily remain at this site, makes the experience even more significant!

A taxi ride takes the adventurous sisters, Barb and Michelle, off on a pre-dolphin trip to an amazing, out of the way place on Roatan!

After the White Night Party - for those hearty souls who could stay awake that long, the next stop is Cozumel! Breakfast first in Raffles with Mr Wakie Wakie, and then ashore!

Tulum's greatest attraction is it's location . It stands on a bluff facing the rising sun looking out on views of the Caribbean that are nothing less than !spectacular! Karen scores the last available spot for the ship's tour.!

Barb and Michelle find there's more to Cozumel than shopping - it's an island full of fascinating things to see an do!

And of course, the slogan of Jimmy Buffet's place is - In Margaritas we Trust!

The last night's dinner was fantastic, after a day at sea doing fun things like wine and martini tastings! We remember all the wonderful adventures we had since the first photo was taken!
