BC: We had a fantastic trip...Can't wait to go back to VEGAS BABY!!
FC: LAS VEGAS and BEYOND... | January 2008
1: In January 2008 we took a trip. We flew to Phoenix and then drove 5 hours to Las Vegas...These are some of the sites we saw on that road trip.
2: Our trip to the Grand Canyon started off as a quick side trip during our road trip but quickly turned into a much bigger adventure. We followed a map to the skywalk that took us off the main highway. We drove, and drove and drove until we ended up on a road the We were quite sure our rental minivan was not going to make...Not to mention the fact that for a tourist attraction, we never say another vehicle. We were beginning to think we were going to die alone in the desert and no one would ever find us...Until off in the distance after miles of nothing, we came upon a dilapidated building and some broken pavement leading to it...I remembered seeing an old wind sock and thinking this was an abandoned air center. It was the first sign of civilization that we'ld had in quite awhile and we really had lost interest with seeing the Grand Canyon. We came to a booth and low and behold there were 2 people of Indian decent and we asked them if they new where the skywalk was . They told us that we had arrived and charged us 20$ US to park in an empty parking lot. We parked and headed towards the old building...mostly cause i really had to pee by that point. Dave went and found out more info. Inside was like every other hideous souvenir trap store. The deal to see the canyon was...That you had to take a 15 minute bus from here to there. The bus ride was $20 for each of us to get to the site of the Skywalk (bus drivers had tip jars too) but it was another 204 each to get to walk on the sky walk which is a semi-circle glass bottom bridge that you walk on and can see the Canyon above and below you..Once there wehad to spend a dollar for a locker to put our camera in because after all the trouble it is to get to this beautiful site...you're not allowed to take your own pictures but you can purchase one they take of you for $35....Can you Say SUCKERS!! Let's recap: Driv: 3hrs (1.5 IN and OUT) Parking fee:$20 BUS to Attraction:$40 ($20 each) locker a dollar SKYWALK: $40($20 each) Souvenir picture: $35 (who wouldn't want to remember being taken) Total:$135 US A story to tell friends and family: PRICELESS
