S: London and Paris 2012
BC: London-Paris | July 2012
Heading out on our first day in London via the Underground. Mind the gap!
The Tower of London was one of our first stops, and awesome. | Max is standing in front of one of many artist's manipulations of telephone booths that were all over London.
The view from the moat at the Tower of London
Seeing the Olympic rings through the window at the Tower of London brought together the old and new.
The Tower was bigger and grander than we had imagined. We all enjoyed feeling it's rich history.
We are really in London!! | Entering one of the Towers. | Father and daughter enjoying the view from the top of the Tower walls. | Old plus new equals amazing.
What are you doing on my tower? Confess! | Only Hannah would hug an armed guard.
 I am Katniss!
 A Tower guard. Fear me.
Going in to see the crown jewels. Perhaps the queen wants to give some of it to me?
This fish lamppost frames the Millennium bridge in the background.
We were joined on the Millennium Bridge by Shrek, who was happy to be in our pictures.
Hannah listening to the audio commentary at the Tate Modern museum (upper left). She gets acquainted with her new plague rat at Shakespeare's Globe.
The tour of the Harry Potter Studios was a highlight of the London trip. | (Above) Hannah at the ministry of magic. (Opposite page) The snakes in the vault door really moved. The Weasley's clock notes everyone's location. Jennifer gazes into the Mirror of Erised.
We enjoyed some real butterbeer during lunch, at the halfway point of our tour. It was delicious!
Tom Riddle's gravestone, Ben and Hannah on the Knight Bus, and Ben and Hannah with one of the giant chess pieces.
There was an amazing amount of stuff to see!
Hannah was overcome with emotion seeing the huge scale model of the exterior of Hogwarts Castle
The scale model of Hogwarts castle was 3 stories tall, and seemed to have a footprint the size of our house! Truly a spectacle, and the perfect way to end our tour at the Harry Potter Studios.
(Opposite Page) We had a private patio, which also led out to Crescent Garden, a beautiful landscape only available to the residents who border it.
Crescent Garden Flat | (Top right) Ben brings home traditional pasties for dinner. (Bottom right) Hannah in the garden on her way to the play set there.
 Windsor Castle
Mini-Land was our favorite part of Legoland Windsor | Ben at Easter Island, and Jennifer with Lego flamingos
Star Wars Lego characters in the gift shop. Full size!
On Saturday in London we watched the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace. The band played "Copacabana," which didn't seem quite right, but it made us laugh.
The Changing of the Guard | We found a spot on the corner of the street across from the palace, where we had a good view of the marching band entering. | It looked like it was going rain, like every other day we were in London, but the weather held out.
We went to the big statue of Queen Victoria after we watched the changing of the guard. Quite an impressive statue.
Big Ben | We were there when the clock struck 2:00. It wasn't as loud as I expected. | Big Ben meets Big Ben | The kids are standing on the wall separating us from the houses of Parliament.
A beautiful garden near Buckingham Palace, and Parliament.
Big Ben and Parliament | (Opposite) In front of Westminster Abbey. We were here on a Sunday, so we were not allowed to enter, as they were having regular services.
(Opposite page) Ben and Hannah with a Big Ben themed phone booth. (This page) Hannah chose the natural History museum, and it was a beautiful building.
We say good bye to London and travel via the high speed Eurostar train through the Chunnel to our next home, Paris France
Our Paris apartment looked into an interior courtyard, where we could see and hear all our neighbors. Ben is enjoying a Coke Light while practicing his French.
The Louvre Museum and the Arc de Triomphe were two big pieces of our Paris Trip.
The views from the Arc de Triomphe were breathtaking.
 Notre Dame
 Our Day at The Louvre
The Louvre was so big that we barely scratched the surface. It was like ten museums in one.
(Above) the stairs leading to our apartment. (Opposite page) The kids are so tired of walking, they sit on the people mover in the Metro. We all have Croque for dinner.
We arrived at The Eiffel Tower at dusk. It's lights were on and twinkling when we arrived. It was magical, and will remain one of our stronger memories of the trip.
The tower loomed above us through the streets as we approached it from the Metro.
On our last day in Paris, we traveled to Versailles to see the town and the Chateau. The best part of that day was discovering Nutella crepes.
 Our favorite statues in Versailles
Farewell France. Perhaps we shall see you again someday.
