S: Nurses for Africa - Maranatha, 2012

FC: Maranatha Team 2012

1: The team met in Chicago | Maranatha Team, 2012 | The team flew from Chicago to London then to Lusaka, Zambia

2: Two buses for the team and the suitcases. | Lusaka International Airport Finally! | The team stopped in Kabwe for lunch at Tuskers then onto to the "Sisters" - an old convent where they would spend the week.

3: The "Sisters" | Donations and Supplies | Tuskers

4: The Team attended church Sunday morning. | Camisha and Shirley meet some of the children at church.

5: Organizing donations for the Prenatal classes, home visits and counting medications for clinics | Joey, Mindi, Bert and Shirley

6: Home Visits | Cristal | Theresa

7: Home Visits The team walked with the care workers to visit the villagers in their homes. The team learned hos the villagers liced.

8: Cristal examines a villager | Kim, Camisha, and Mindi

9: The nurses treated wounds, assessed the villagers and played with the children. They also learned about the care workers and their lives. | Camisha | Sara

10: Setting up the "pharmacy" | Clinic Days The team ready to start clinic. They saw nearly 600 villagers in two days! | Theresa -Eye Glass Clinic | Camisha

11: Along with 3 Zambian Nurses, The team did assessments treated wounds, distributed de-worming medication and performed malaria testing. | Robyn (Hands at Work, representative) helps in the De-worming station | Joey

13: The villagers line up for clinic. Nurses for Africa is the only organization that offers medical assistance to Maranatha. | Bert | Kim

14: Clinic Days were very busy. Villagers received thorough examinations. The nurses gave treatment and medication suggestions that were reviewed by the Zambian nurses. The villagers received basic medications from the "pharmacy." | Cristal & Charlie | Shirley | Bert

17: Camisha examines a villager as one of the Care Workers translates. Pharmacy | Kim and Shirley

18: Listening closely | Shirley and Mindi taught the Feminine Health Classes to the girls.

19: Demonstrating the Kit | Days for Girls menstrual kits were passed out after the classes. | The class

20: Mindi teaching the pre-natal classes. | Response to the classes was amazing! | The ladies were thrilled to receive education about their bodies. Each participant received a "New Baby Bag" filled with donated supplies for their babies!

22: A day of fun and games! Nearly 400 kids came! | Kid's Day!!!

24: Face Painting, Sack Races, Bean Bag Toss, Tee Ball, Jump rope, And FUN!!!!

27: Each girl received a new "pillow case" dress. Each boy received a new shirt or pair of pants. They also had lunch. Its amazing to see how the kids take part of their meals to share with their families. | Lunch! | Pillow Case Dresses

29: Face Painting | Beads and smiles... | Joey & Grace

30: Care Worker Appreciation This day is to show the care workers how much they are appreciated. They are not paid for the tireless work they do in their village. They visit the sick, give support and assist the nurses throughout the entire week.

31: The Care Workers were each given a "Life Saver Kit" - a kit with supplies to be used on their home visits. They also enjoyed lunch and Bingo!! Everyone had a great time, but it was bittersweet because the week in Maranatha was over....
