Mexican Riviera Cruise Sapphire Princess Los Angeles to Puerto Vallarta to Cabo San Lucas
Saturday, March 12th. We flew into LA and were on board the ship by noon. After our first lunch in the buffet, we spent the next few hours checking out the ship. | One of the first things we had to do was to get Rick, Teri and David a "soda card"...and then they drank their weight in soda during the cruise.
The ship was huge and really amazing. Our rooms were on deck 11 (of 15), the Baja deck. Our room steward, Teddy, was from the Philippines and took very good care of us.
We set sail at sunset with a beautiful view as we headed out to sea.
Sunday, March 13th Sunday was a pretty low key day. It wasn't really warm enough to lay out, so we spent some time checking out more of the ship, playing cards and eating. Then found a warm spot to take a short nap before dinner.
Monday, March 14th. We spent most of Monday laying out. It was a beautiful day and perfect for napping in the sun. Even though we were headed to Puerto Vallarta, we had to make a pit stop in Cabo for someone who got sick....just glad it wasn't us.
Sunday night we went to a magic show. The magician was hilarious and his comedy was almost better than his magic tricks. | Later, we headed out to the Lido deck for the "Ultimate Deck Party". After laughing at some dancers and eating a little food, we headed to bed so we would be well rested for our first day in Mexico.
Tuesday, March 15th Our first port was Puerto Vallarta. We spent the day shopping and then took some time to check out all the amazing sand creations.
A local guy in Puerto Vallarta recommended that we have lunch at a place called Pipi's...great recommendation. The food was delicious....great entertainment....and a guy came to our table to make fresh guacamole (we had him come twice).
Cabo San Lucas Day 1 | We arrived in Cabo on Wednesday, March 16th. After a short "tender" ride from the ship, anchored out in the bay, we were ready for another sunny day in Mexico.
We spent more time shopping, ate some lunch, and then hit the beach. After some relaxing time in the sun, we took a water taxi back to the dock and returned to the ship.
We went on an excursion our second day in Cabo. We took a boat out to Chileno Bay to snorkel. The snorkeling wasn't all that great, but seeing the arches of Cabo and 3 whales made it all worth it.
El Arco de Cabo San Lucas
On our way out to Chileno Bay, we saw a single whale...on our way back, we saw a mom and her baby. They were showing off for all the boats...slapping the water with their fins and jumping out of the water then turning and landing on their backs. It was amazing.
We left Cabo on Thursday afternoon and spent that afternoon enjoying more warmth and sunshine by the pool. Then the winds picked up and the waves got bigger, so we headed in for another yummy dinner and hilarious show by Steve Morris, a musician and comedian. Our last day on the ship, the waves and wind continued, so we spent the day inside napping and playing cards. We had a fabulous trip enjoying lots of delicious food, relaxing times, and the sites and sun in Mexico.
