FC: National Geography Of Canada

1: The Appalachian Region This region is a mountainous area on the east coast of canada.And is made up old mountains formed 300,000,000 years ago. The climate is affected by two ocean currents, The Labrador current and the Gulf stream.The Appalachian Region was heavily forested with mixed coniferous and deciduous trees.

2: The Costal Plains The coastal plains is an area that stretches for 3200 km's from Cape Cod along the atlantic coast.The coastal plains contain lots of swamps and marshes.Climate is very random in the Costal Plains and varies quite abit.the sand of the cosatal plains are very sandy. The costal plains have lush jungles due to this.

3: The Great Lakes The Great Lakes are the smallest geographical region in Canada.The Great Lakes region has a rolling landscape that was created by glaciers.the climate is humid, It is humid because the Great lakes tend to cool the temperature in the summer.This region has an assortment of vegitation due to its good soil.

4: Interior Plains Are a huge area of flat land and rolling hills.This region has high elevations and are slopping down from west to east.The climate is a continental climate.It is a climate of extremes, with long hot summers, cold winters and very little rain. The centeral lowland is covered with mixed deciduous trees and some evergreen trees, in other parts is mainly high prairie grasses

5: The Canadian Shield is more that 2 billion years old and consists of great volcanic mountains leveled by erosion. During the iceage most of the soil was removed. As you travel north the winters get longer and the vegetation is mostly evergreens.

6: The Western Cordillera runs along the west coast of North America and is compriesed of new mountains not yet worn down by erosen, and has a maritime climate that variesfrom north to south. The west coast is is moist and mild in fact parts of it are among the wettest regions on Earth.

7: The Intermoutain Region is an area in the US and Canada that is located between the Rocky Mountains and the coast Mountains, theclimate of the Intermoutain Region is affected by its location and by its elevation and the vegation in the Region ranges between sparse grass to plants that can survive in semi - desert or desert conditions.

8: The Arctic Region in northern Canada is a combination of lowlands and mountains and much of the Arctic near the ocean is very flat. The climate is vary severe because itis so far from the equator and winter lasts for 10 months in the far north. Vary few life forms, beyond lichen, can grow on the mountains.
