2: THE BIG APPLE | We found the SUNY Optometry school | This was our hotel: The Helmsley Hotel

3: Hanging out at Grand Central Terminal | listening at the Whispering Columns

4: We went everywhere on the subway | Michael in front of the NY Stock Exchange | Chinatown & soup dumplings

5: The Supreme Court and Tiffany & Co. | SoHo | Ground Zero

6: Rockefeller Center: the famous skating rink & beautiful panoramic views of the city

7: Serendipity! | "I found chocolate!" | @ Hershey's in Times Square

8: lunch from a street vendor | 5-Napkin Burger

9: We finished this whole pizza plus some calamari

10: The ever impressive New York City skyline | On Liberty Island with NYC as a backdrop | The Brooklyn Bridge

11: We took the ferry to the Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island

12: The Museum of Natural History | The Met | Museums Galore!

14: All Around Town

16: Dinner | Mmmm...more food! Katz's famous pastrami sandwich, a really good Indian restaurant, and New York cheesecake, of course.

17: and a Show | We were able to see two Broadway musicals

18: We rode the train to Union Station in Washington D.C.

19: We actually stayed in Arlington, Virginia and caught the subway to D.C. each day

20: The National Museum of Natural History (part of the Smithsonian) | "as tall as an elephant leg | that's one large centipede

21: a meteorite | What wooly mammoth? | The Hope Diamond | being eaten by a shark

22: Exploring the National Mall | outside the Smithsonian Castle | at the Washington Monument | The Federal Reserve

23: Visiting the Vietnam & World War II memorials

24: Touring the Lincoln Memorial | The Gettysburg Address

25: The Treasury Department | Michael in front of the National Archives building. We saw the original Declaration of Independence, Constitution, & Bill of Rights | The Library of Congress | the Holocaust Museum

26: On Capitol Hill | I love that this is written on the ceiling inside our nation's capitol

27: The National Postal Museum | former mail delivery systems | (we had time to kill) | some antiquated stamps from Hawaii

28: A day at the American History Museum | Dorothy's ruby slippers | "Hawaii" display | Abe Lincoln's top hat

29: the wars we've fought | the wrecked Philadelphia | Julia Child's kitchen | Stanford's robotic car | We also got to see the original flag sewn by Betsy Ross, but pictures were not allowed | Ummm...

30: The White House | We were not allowed to take cameras or purses into the White House, so all of our photos from this day are from Michael's camera phone. | The White House Christmas Tree

31: The National Cathedral | the famous "Rose" stained glass window | at the entrance

32: The National Air | at the helm of an aircraft carrier | Neil Armstrong's space suit | a supercomputer | U.S. spy satellite

33: & Space Museum | celebrating the Wright brothers | the very first motorcycle | Pratt-Whitney jet engine | a NASA plane

34: Steak, steak, steak...& seafood | Five Guys Burger & Fries | Legal Seafoods

35: The Kennedy Center | Just before heading home, we were fortunate enough to catch the very beginning of the blooming cherry blossom trees throughout Washington D.C.
