FC: Orlando 2012
We wanted to go somewhere for our first wedding anniversary but we could be gone longer for less PTO if we waited a couple of weeks. So we enjoyed a week in Orlando Sept 2011 as a belated first wedding anniversary trip. | wWe were super super busy while we were in Orlando. We wanted to do as much as possible! We managed to do 4 theme parks, 2 water parks, the Holy Land, as well as enjoying the Arabian Nights dinner show and a Blue Man Group performance. It was awesome! | At Stingray Lagoon guests are able to feed, pet and interact with stingrays of all types and sizes. Jamie was entranced by the opportunity to touch some of his favorite sea creatures.
Penguins are pretty cool. One of Deanna's favorite animals for sure. Although the exhibit on penguins was pretty small Seaworld offers a penguin experience where you can go behind the scenes with the keepers and get to see penguins way close up. Perhaps next time we will be able to do that.
Sea Lions and Walruses oh my! Seaworld has some of the best animal shows anywhere. It was very enjoyable to watch the costumed trainers work with the sea lions and walruses in their quest to take pirate island.
The Blue Horizon acrobatic dolphin show was amazing! The trainers dive from the rafters, swing, jump and play with the dolphins. It was so awesome we just had to watch and so we didn't get very many pictures. | Seaworld rescues animals that are wounded or endangered from all over the world. All of the manatees in the exhibit are rescue animals. | wow! look its an underwater good year blimp LOL!!! Also known as a manatee.
Killer Whale Whale is right in the name who knew that it was such a lie. Killer Whales are actually the largest species of dolphins they aren't whales at all.
Shamu is perhaps the most famous of the Seaworld stars and the shows are spectacular. One thing all killer whales do is splash! The splash zone in the studio is like 50 rows back!
Aquatica A couple of years ago Seaworld opened their own waterpark called Aquatica. The have an attraction called Roa's Rapids that is the best water park ride we had ever been on. Its an adventure with high tides, swirling whirlies, and gushing geysers at a speed that leaves all other river rides in the dust. Just put on a life jacket and enjoy the rapids! Or if your part fish like Jamie you can swim and get tons and tons of exercise. Either way it was the best part of our day we spent hours being pushed along by the high pressure water.
Arabian Nights Come watch the beautiful horses and listen to the story of a princess who with the help of a magical genie is looking for a prince. They explore all over the world looking for a man who is a good horseman and her one true prince.
We definitely want to go to Jerusalem eventually.Until then it was really cool to be able to experience some of ancient Jerusalem without going further than Florida. They have live performances of the Passion, worship and great bible teachings every day. It was a very good learning experience for both of us.
Universal Studios | Jaws | Wow what a big shark! | A first time for both of us we enjoyed our morning at Universal Studios. It rained all morning, which kept the crowds down but it didn't stop up from having a good time! It takes more than a little bit of crazy raining to do that LOL!!! We started our day with their new coaster the Rip, Ride, Rocket and enjoyed all of the movie themed attractions which luckily were mostly indoors hence the not being messed up by rain. The only ride we didn't get to ride was the mummy coaster because it was closed all morning. | It is really cool to pick your own music for a roller coaster ride. Even cooler that at the end you can view and purchase a music video of your individual ride.
City Walk at Universal | City Walk is the collection of restaurants, bars, clubs and shows surrounding the entrance to the two Universal Theme Parks. | We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Hard Rock Orlando. After our day of fun at Universal. | Always Lounging Around! | Hardrock Orlando is the biggest Hardrock Cafe in the world. | Trying to get a bite of someone!
Universal Studios Islands of Adventure | We love big cats! | Islands of Adventure is Universals second and newer theme park. Catering to a more thrill seeking audience there are many more coasters and rides based on movies rather than rides about creating movies. A very good time can be had by one and all.
Marvel comic book characters abound. Including those in the awesome Spiderman ride.
Islands of Adventure Jurassic Park | Classic movies Classic ride Still a good time!
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
Universal really does know how to build the best environments. The castle they built for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is absolutely amazing. Inside is the ride the Forbidden Journey and all through the line there are Harry Potters Characters, artifacts and awesomeness.
Who wants to run through gate 13 to jump on the train to hogwarts?
We didn't really spend much time in Seuss Landing but there were definitely some fun signs. Suess Landing is the area with activities and rides for kids.
Busch Gardens | Cheetahs are pretty awesome! the fastest land animals with a sprint speed of up to 70mph. | Cheetahs are so pretty! | Cheetah Hunt is Busch Gardens newest roller coaster and with a ride time of over 2 minutes and a track length of more than a quarter mile its one of the longest coasters in the world . | Pretty cool grass cheetah
We got to pet and feed kangaroos at Busch Gardens. It was awesome! They are much softer than I would have expected!
Bird Gardens | The bird gardens at Busch Gardens are interactive. You can walk through their habitat and if they want to they cam fly right p to you. You have to be careful though there is always a chance they will poop. | Jamie personally learned all about the dangers of poop! The little green bird he is holding above hit him in the eye with a little waste missile!
Walk like an Egyptian! | One of the biggest discoveries in Egypt archeology was the discovery of King Tut's tomb. It is one of the very few tombs that have been found before it was cleared out by thieves. | Busch Gardens has an exact reproduction of King Tut's tomb that you can walk through and see for yourself its awesomness.
 Monkey Brothers
Lions and Tigers and Bears Oh My! ... and Elephants, Giraffes, Hippos and Wildebeest. What a fun place! | One of the highlights at Busch Garden is their Safari Land. They rescue animals from all over the world and if there isn't any way or place they can be returned to the wild they can come live in Safari Land. You can take a safari train ride and see the animals from afar or go on the Safari adventure in jeeps with interactive guides.
Every breed of tiger is endangered. They are considered to be one of the most endangered of the big cats. We very much enjoyed walking the tiger trail, especially the protected viewing station pictured above.
