FC: Our Days in the Sun | May 16th-20th 2012
Day 1: We traveled about four hours to reach Corpus Christi. It was a long drive, but so worth it.
Day 2: We spent the night at Aunt Dawn's house, and woke up to a most astounding sunrise occurring right outside of our window. Aunt Dawn also made us each a cup of her AMAZING chai tea.
We decided to spend about two hours visiting the beach and exploring around Corpus Christi. The beach was simply beautiful! Not like the beaches near our home.
Being a tourist was so much FUN! There was a gift shop that was shaped like a giant sandcastle! I was even more excited to discover that the shop carried little animal-shaped trinket boxes like the ones I collect! One little dolphin was happily added to the collection.
Next up was another gift shop...but this time, to enter the shop, you had to walk through a gigantic, ferocious-looking SHARK!
After we were finished touring around, it was time to hit Port Royal Resort, where we stayed for two days.
To put it simply enough, this place is SUPER AMAZING! We stayed in the pool the whole time, only going in to eat or sleep.
My Dad had the bright idea to slather his nose in sunblock to achieve the ultimate "Tourist" look. I think he was ultimately successful! During our second day at the resort, Ameer, Paco, and I discovered just how hard it is to play water volleyball with only three people, though it felt like two, because I couldn't hit the ball if my life depended on it!
Paco thought he would try to tempt the seagulls to take a cheeto out of his hand. One seagull turned into dozens of seagulls, and though they flew around him in a frenzy, they wouldn't take the bait. That didn't stop them from stealing the food off the table right in front of Aunt Dawn though! One seagull eventually did successfully take off with the prized cheeto, to its delight!
Day 4: The Beach to Bay Relay! | Dad was super excited when we woke up Saturday morning.
He planned on getting a picture of himself running in front of the first runner of the relay....We made our plan, he got into position, I got my camera ready, and... | ...MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! GO DAD! After this great accomplishment, we happily helped give out water to the runners.
During a majority of the vacation, Ameer's son, Aidan, and I became really great pals. | We spent a lot of time watching his favorite show: "Thomas the Train" on my cell phone.
We had a great time hanging out on Aunt Dawn's back patio. Playing guitar, singing, and just enjoying eachother's company! | It took a LOT of convincing (*cough*begging*cough*) to get Aunt Dawn to let me take pictures of her beautiful smile!
Eventually we decided it would be a good idea to do some more exploring, so my parents, Aunt Dawn, Arnold, Aidan, and I climbed into the truck and took off for Fulton, a sleepy, fishing-village! This place is so beautiful and serene.
We then passed through to Goose Island, where we got to see "The Big Tree!" | Would you believe that this tree is over 1000 years old and has a circumference of over 35 feet?! | It sure does LOOK ancient! | It is also known as "The Goose Island Oak."
This is a replica of the "Nina!" | Corpus Christi
Day 5: The Journey home. We had a blast with Aunt Dawn and her family and hope to visit again soon! But until then, we'll just hang out by our hot-tub and try to relive the memories!
