FC: Trip to Prague July 2011
1: Tillie, Jim, Guy and I traveled to Prague to visit John who had been working on his masters in Brussels. John's girlfriend, Tereza's, family live in Prague and they thought it would be a wonderful place for us to visit and spend time together. The city was lovely, the people were so hospitable, and Tereza's family went out of their way to make this a very memorable trip! Anne Hager July 2011
2: All within walking distance of our hotel.
3: & | The public transportation in Prague was a great way to get around town.
4: Interesting things to see while walking in Prague.
6: Tereza's grandparents, Hana and Oldrich, gave a special tour on the coronation walk.
8: It wouldn't be a trip to Europe without a trip to a cathedral. The St. Vitus Cathedral.
9: Tereza's mom, Marketa, arranged to transport all six of us to Cesky Krumlov 3 hours away. This well preserved historic town is known for its outdoor revolving theater where we saw Don Giovanni. We stayed overnight at a local bed and breakfast.
12: The Vltava River also runs through Cesky Krumlov.
13: The Town was created around the castle which was founded by the Lords of Krumlov around 1253. The architecture of is a mix of Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque.
14: Meals were wonderful times.
15: We traveled by train to tour the Karlstejn Castle founded by the Czech King and Holy Roman Emperor, Charles IV.
17: Michal drove us to their family cottages. We celebrated with champagne at Tereza's uncle's, Olan, cottage. Then walked to her grandparent's cottage and the river.
18: We visited the Jewish Quarter with some of the best preserved Jewish history.
19: We celebrated July 4th at Hooters!
20: We flew home safely on July 6th. Surprise! The pilot cleans windows. What a fabulous trip!
