1: Our Trip to Paris, March 2011 | We touched down at Charles de Gaule Airport on March 27th around 9 am. Unfortunately, Mike's bags didn't get there until around 11. Mike's parents picked us up and we did the first thing anyone should do in Paris... EAT! We dined at Cafe Constant and had our first taste of Foie Gras and the most amazing duck we’ve ever tasted. Later we arrived at our apartment on Rue de L'Universite. It was a perfect Parisian paradise about a football field away from the Eiffel Tower. At night we took a claustrophobic elevator ride to the top of the Eiffel Tower with a beautiful view of the city. Luckily some Houston friends were traveling from London to Paris. We met up with them and gloriously iced Cody under the Eiffel tower. Later in the week Lisa gave us amazing tours of the Louvre and Notre Dame. This was immediately followed up by a necessary bottle of wine and a wheel of cheese for each person back at her apartment. The following day we took a train ride to Versailles where we saw the ornately decorated mansion and gardens once owned by King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. The last day of our vacation we traveled north of Paris to Montmartre where famous artists such as Ernest Hemmingway and Monet used to hang out. We purchased a couple paintings and headed down to the Moulin Rouge which is situated amongst many not so discreetly named porn stores (most of which included something called Zapping?) Our last night was something we wanted to remember so we went on a date by foot to a quaint restaurant. It was honestly the most romantic night of our lives until the walk home where Mike was suddenly struck by an immediate need to use the restroom which was quite a hilarious event looking back. Some other memorable moments of our trip included: Greg demanding a trip on the bateaux mooches, Marina‘s tour of D’Orsay, people watching in the Tuileries Gardens while eating crepes (we prefer pancakes), wine and cheese every night at the apartment with a new guest, walking all the way back to our apartment from the Champs de Elysees, and the horrible plane ride back where we switched our extra leg room seats for some lady with a baby that didn’t plan ahead. It was such an amazing trip, and although we will probably never be able to top it, we cant wait to visit Paris again!

17: Paris is the city in which one loves to live. Sometimes I think this is because it is the only city in the world where you can step out of a railway station—the Gare D’Orsay—and see, simultaneously, the chief enchantments: the Seine with its bridges and bookstalls, the Louvre, Notre Dame, the Tuileries Gardens, the Place de la Concorde, the beginning of the Champs Elysees—nearly everything except the Luxembourg Gardens and the Palais Royal. But what other city offers as much as you leave a train?-Margaret Anderson
