BC: THE END
FC: Research | For research we used probably the most helpful website, wikipedia, to find out films of post-apocalyptic genre. It was very helpful as that kind of genre was very unfamiliar to us and so we found out similar conventions that can help us with our film opening.
More research | What a beautiful view! | Another useful website we used was google maps. This helped us with our location recce and ultimately led us to find abandoned locations with wreckage overgrown foliage.
Lastly, youtube is the site where we put all our videos such as feedback reaction and of course film opening. | We used this website to look up film openings to analyse post apocalyptic conventions. Especially while looking up credit rolls, I watched "Reign of Fire" on youtube to adapt the credit sequence. Similarly with "12 Monkeys" and "Doomsday" I figured we could use the way they added quotations about the outbreak to set the scene and genre of our film opening.
We used celtx to write our script
We used tumblr for blogging, basically where we post our progress for the project.
Filming EquipmentsPanasonic HDC – SD60What I like about it:- High image quality- OIS provides really steadyshots and very good and smoothpanning- Small but comfortable What i don’t like:- Battery lasts only 2 hours*with that being said our video recordings didn't take too long | FILMING EQUIPMENTS | PLANNING | I don’t exactly remember what the brand of the tripod we used was but we basically used one for stable shots and panning.
I think doing photography at college helped me a lot at being the main cinematographer because I just knew at which angles the shots looked the best and which part of the locations would show the most cinematic features. | FILMING
EDITING | We used cutting edge technology (apple MACs) provided by the college to help with faster and more convenient editing process
FINAL CUT PRO | By using final cut pro, i learned how to cut shots, add titles, add effects (saturate colours) add background music, sound effects, render videos, convert to quicktime movie and convert our final product to mpeg to upload on youtube. | Although the process took longer than i expected I had fun seeing the finished product
Lastly, my friend Sophie Upham created the opening theme for our film opening using Fruity Loops studio. Everything else we used (e.g. sound effects) were found on the MAC.
