1: Roatan | Roatan, Honduras | March 30. 2011 | Roatan Honduras, Central America An island that is 60km long by 8km wide. One of 3 islands in The Bay Islands, Caribbean Ocean and next to the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world- TheMesoamerican Barrier Reef.

2: We are here to dive! This Barrier Reef goes from Isla Contoy, Mexico to the Bay Islands, a total distance of over 1000km. It is the largest coral reef in the northern hemisphere, home to over 500 species of fish and 2nd in size only to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.

4: WEST END DIVERS | West End Divers has hosted scuba divers visiting Roatan, Honduras since 1991. And now we are visiting yet again.

22: MANGROVES The easternmost quarter of the island is separated by a convoluted channel through the mangroves that is 15 meters wide on the average. This section is called Helene.

24: The Caracol people are an English-speaking people who have been established in Northern Honduras (specifically, the Bay Islands) since the early 19th century. The term "caracol" has also been deemed offensive by native Islanders and the term is only used by Spanish-speaking "mainland" Hondurans who have a long standing rivalry with native Bay Islanders because of their differences in culture, language, beliefs and ideals. All native islanders regardless of race, creed or color prefer the term "Islanders" when being referred to.

32: Robert E. Lee (Bob), a prominent island legend, died of a heart attack on January 7, 2012. Bob Lee was the owner of the Hole in the Wall Diner. We are glad we met ya Bob!

34: WEST END VILLAGE-Beach West End is the most popular tourist destination on Roatan. While spectacular scuba diving is their main attraction, the world says that the snorkeling is among the world's best.

36: Sharing good times with good friends is the greatest joy. This is the stuff that makes life worthwhile. Whether sharing a meal together or a good conversation, there is nothing more fulfilling then spending time with friends. We must be thankful for the friendships that come our way for not all are blessed with the skills to form deep relationships. Those of us that do have friends must never take for granted the gift bestowed upon us.
