FC: FRENCH OPEN 2010 Karla, Jessica, Contessa, Karen, Nicole & Sharon

 Vive la Paris!

Checking the windows to be sure Jessica is not "Taken."

Champ-de-Mars Park surrounding La Tour Eiffel

View of la Tour Eiffel from Place de la Concorde | Nicole: "This way" Karla: "That way."

7th Arrondissement view of La Tour Eiffel

 Parisian Parking!

 $$$$ Margaritas $$$$

 Food, friends and fun!

 Day trip to Versailles

The Hall of Mirrors where the Treaty of Versailles was signed.

Arc de Triomphe | Napoleon had this Arc commissioned to commemorate his victory at the battle of Austerlitz. We climbed 284 steps to the observation deck on top showing beautiful panoramic views of the city. Twelve avenues radiate out from the Arc, the grandest being the Champs-Elysees.

Notre-Dame Cathedral dedicated to "Our Lady" (Mary, the Mother of Jesus) only took 182 yrs to complete. My favorite part was climbing up the towers with Jessica to see the gargoyles.

Mary, the mother of God, is seen cradling him in the heart of the facade of this church. Below the circular center window are the 28 King of Judah.

Notre-Dame's famous gargoyles represent souls caught between heaven and earth. They also function as rainspouts (from the same French root as "gargle") when there are no evil spirits to battle.

Sainte-Chapelle - Fait lux "let there be light." This 13th century chapel was built to house Jesus' Crown of Thorns (now housed at Notre-Dame.) It features 15 separate panels of stained glass (6,500 feet) depicting scenes from the Creation to Judgement Day. Built speedily between 1242 and 1248 for King Louis IX.

 The River Seine

Shakespeare and Co. Book Store. Meeting place for Ernest Hemingway, James Joyce, George Bernard Shaw

Sacre-Coeur is a five-domed Roman-Byzantine-looking basilica which stands on the summit of Montmartre built in the latter 19C. The crypt contains a relic of what some of the devout believe is Christ's sacred heart.

Le Bateau Lavoir A former piano factory converted into an artists studio where Picasso and other artists lived and worked.

 Montmartre with tour guide Ryan

 The Red Windmill

 Arc Du Carousel

We're finally at Roland Garros. - my favorite part of the trip, especially the grounds passes.

 Famous Red Clay!

Girls rule! | Melanie Oudin from Atlanta

The controversial bloomers. She really did look naked! | Karla and KK | Jessica and the #15 seed from France, Aravane Rezai

 Robbie Ginepri, from Marietta

Boys drool! | John Isner, who played for UGA

Lovre | Musee du Louvre, Europe's oldest, biggest, greatest, and second-most-crowded museum (after the Vatican) housed in a 16th century palace with a 20th century glass pyramid

 Life imitates art.
