In June of 2012, Valentina and I decided to make our way to New York City. We found that the city doesn't sleep and neither do the people. We only visited for two days due to our living circumstances, but we tried our best to develop an understanding of the city and the people who live amongst these elongated streets. Through a few photos and observations we understood that beyond it's glamorous talk, prodigious reputation and historical belonging lied a city who worked just like any other. Who's inhabitants are of the honest and the dishonest, the suffering and the prosperous, the faithful and the non- believers, the powerful and the vulnerable, and the many like myself-- the sleepless.
NEW | |n(y)o| adjective 1 not existing before; made, introduced, or discovered recently or now for the first time
YORK | |yrk| noun 1 a city in northern England, on the Ouse River; pop. 101,000.
The city, the people, the air, the dream, the streets, the lights, the cars, the breeze, the night, the day, the sights, the noise, the Grey, the joy, the pain its manifested in the faces of those who walk these streets, of those who dream, of those who live to survive, of those who work before sleep, of those who sacrifice, of those who abuse, of those who cry, of those who smile. New York City
The light shines on me and I smile, a deep breath and a bruised lung, life is young and I have much to learn, but the city, the people, the air , the dream, the streets, the lights, the cars, the breeze, the night, the day, the sights, the noise, the Grey, the joy, the pain, and the fray of my shoes, the sore in my ankles are the source of my youth and forever they be apart of my effort. 32: In a place so full, desolation exists. You become faceless, an addition to the absence of color, of vibrancy and of definition. It precedes your urge to stand out, it shadows that very inch of crowd, that bit of hope. It clouds with Grey and perpetuates through each block, every corner, every pizza parlor, every light, to darkness. But you and I will be alright, if we stick to what is true, what is purposeful, what is us, what is I, what is you. There is beauty in this and for those who find it, sustain their will. What is New York.
