BC: DEPARTED | Sweden | July 2012
Sweden | Sweden | Arrived June 22 | On the way to Sweden to play in 2 soccer tournaments & sight see!!! We will stay there for 2 1/2 weeks! | Sweden Trip
On the way to Sweden! The longest flight we will have is about 8 hours long! It took FOREVER to get there!! We had to wake up at 3:30 JUST to get to the air port!
Upon arrival, we piled into a bus, and began sight seeing. Our first stop was a church that was built in the 1200's. it was so cool!
One of our stops on our sight seeing trip, was to an old church that was built in the 1200's, or 200 years before Columbus discovered America! It was so pretty!
Coach Jacob's House | 22 July, 2012 | After we left the church, we went to coach Jacob's house for breakfast. The food was AMAZING!
The Swedish Town | After breakfast, we walked through a small town. It had tons of potted flowers, and little shops on each side of the road. Something else that was cool, was that there were several trees that were at least 100 years old. We also got to look at the lily pads on the water. something that was irritating though, is that the time change of 7 hours made me lose track of time and date, so I don't remember what time it was when we went through the town.
 Sweden Tour Summer of 2012
Walking around | We spent about 2 days sight seeing, and eating at different restaurants. We also played a game called oshca - pronounced O-sh-ka. For the first 2 days, we had the luxury of staying in a hotel! The town was so pretty! They had flowers every where, Literally, in Gotland there were flowers 3-4 feet tall growing out of the street. When we went shopping, some of the stores we went to were H&M, the mall, and so many more. The adults let all of us walk around town by our selves while they drank coffee at "Wayne's Coffee Shop." After a long day of sight seeing, we went back to the hotel. Some of the girls and I went downstairs to play "spoons," a fun card game, then went upstairs to hang out, then go to bed.
stopping for food at... | Mr Gyros
In front of a pizza place, playing our game of oshka;)
Sweden was sooooo fun!!! we had the pleasure of staying in a hotel for 1 night, and then went on a 10 hour bus ride to the town Umea! It was a long ride. we took lots of pictures and ate lots of chocolate. My foot fell asleep at least two times, and the first time it did I seriously thought it was going to fall off or something. I vividly remember trying to sleep on Swedish time, and the movie "The Day After Tomorrow" blasting in my ear. I could NOT sleep for the life of me! Oh well, it is a funny memory;) In the picture below, part of my team & I are playing spoons before leaving the hotel.
Today we went to play soccer-I forgot the score or who we played against. Then we went to watch the older girls play. Later on this week, we went to a disco, but I don't remember which day... | Somewhere in Sweden;)
We won our game 2-0. We also went to watch a pro. game! | Game Day | July 26, 2012
Although we didn't win the tournament, we were awarded with best sportsmanship. This award was only given to 4 out of 400 teams!!!!
Ice cream in Gotland The shop had over 120 flavors! We ate there almost every day! If it weren't for soccer in Sweden, we would be fat...We ate so much ice cream!
Ruins in Gotland | Sight seeing
While we stayed in Gotland, my friend and I got to stay with Rebecca J. at her house. While we were there we went to a team dinner with the Swedish families. After the dinner we rode our bikes back to Rebecca's house (right) and made hot chocolate before watching the Olympics and 7 Pounds with Will Smith. It was so sad! We got to hang out with her for 3 days and 2 nights. Best sleepover ever!
On the left, Vanessa and I are drying our hair from the showers. Then we ate some Swedish food, & went back to our host families houses.
Rebecca's Stairs She had 2 spiral staircases! They were so cool! And steep.
 Bistro Borgen | Pizza | 2012
Spending the weekend with Rebecca. Rebecca made us American breakfasts for 2 days, and for lunch we would go to her friends dad's restaurant for pizza. In the picture below we were playing soccer golf.
 On the Town | Gotland
Hanging out in a parade. We just won the tournament! On the left, Helena, Lauren and I are in one of the 2 car rides I had been in on the whole trip.
 Games in | Gotland
While we were in Sweden, Helena got stung... on her face.
This was one of our last games, if not the last. We gave the other team a jersey & American flag.
Walking through Gotland with Amber & Dad. We got to climb to the top of the tower and take pictures by the wall.
Sunken ship This ship was the best in its time, but once it set sail, the cannons were not tied down, so they slid to one side of the ship, and caused it to sink.
 Leaving | Gotland
The Castle | Hanging out in the dress up room
 Bonus | Pages
Extra Pictures | Going to Sweden was an unforgeable Experience! I loved all of the food, especially the chocolate and cheese...but not together. That would be disgusting. I enjoyed playing soccer with the girls in Sweden, as well as eating with them. Either we were really hungry, or they make pizza better than we do. Lauren Holly and I had at least 4-5 pieces at one time. If we weren't in Sweden to play soccer, I think we would have all gotten fat off of ice cream and pizza. Their fish and potatoes were really good as well. While we were in Gotland, Lauren, Helena, Rebecca, and I went with a bunch of other girls to play soccer golf. We also went "Swimming." Which really meant that we tested the water, decided that it was to cold, and decided to play soccer tennis while the Swedish girls swam.
