S: Our Italian Vacation

BC: Gary and Jennifer Williams Scolla Biblica Scandicci, Italy | Thank you sweet cousins for all your hospitality, guided tours, delicious food and dearest love during our visit. We will treasure each memory you helped us make. Much love, Dale, Cherry, Billie and Pattie

FC: Going to Italy!

Italy | ... so this was our condition on arrival! | We thought we would get some rest on the flight from Denver to Florence, but we were all too excited ...

In the water taxi in Venice, heading for Murano and the Glass Factory! | This balcony was outside the room that Billie, Pattie and I shared.

Sweet Jennifer found us a good deal. Of course she knew much more about the whole country than we did, having grown up there, then returning with hubby Gary to oversee the Bible School. | Our hotel room in Venice!

Sixth generation glass blowers in Murano, Venice. It was a small family business, not a big factory!

It was sort of like walking through a dream. | Venice

This is the Grand Canal in Venice where Billie, Pattie and I had lunch while Dale toured a museum. We girls thought we made the better choice!

At the coffee bar with precious Carl and Frankie Mitchell. | The pastries were heavenly

So many beautiful doors and windows - all different!

The Tower of Pisa | Yes it really leans that much!

Strolling in Scandicci where the American Bible School is. | Feeding? the pigeons in San Marcos Square in Venice ... | Trip to Venice | Roberto helped us find our way when we had to change trains - all announcements were in Italian!

Billie, Jennifer, Dale, Cherry Pattie and Gary | Goofing off in San Gimignano | San Gimignano is a Medieval city high on a hill in Tuscany | San Gimignano

The markets were full of beautiful flowers and delicious frutes and vegetables.

Cedri are huge gnarly members of the lemon family. Not nearly so tart as the lemons that grow in America.

...drizzled with a little olive oil, sprinkled with a dab of sugar. We girls stood there and gobbled up the whole plate full! | Rosa slices the cedri paper thin...

 Overlooking beautiful Firenze, Italy

 Greve River in Scandicci

This was in the visitors' center. | The Beautiful American Cemetery is where thousands of American servicemen and women are buried. Comments in the guest book in the Visitor Center tell how grateful the Italians were to be liberated by our soldiers. | The American Cemetery

.. and doors. | Uncle Howard and Carl Mitchell served in Italy during WWII, developed a heart for the Italian people and returned after the war to start a work for Christ. | Beautiful windows ..

At church with Carl and Frankie in Florence | Pisa | We had an Italian sandwich, McDonald's french fries and cappucino in Pisa .. all at the same place!

 Absolutely beautiful!

The first sight of this amazing tower almost takes your breath away. The construction of the tower began in August 1173 and continued for about 200 years due to the onset of a series of wars. Although it was designed to be perfectly vertical, it started to lean during construction. However, even without this famous characteristic, this building would still be one of the most remarkable architectural structures from medieval Europe.

 Trip of a Lifetime!

Laundry Italian Style | Precious Frankie Mitchell
