1: Nothing like local coffee to wake you | First taste of swedish food | Jetlagged in Stockholm
2: A visit to the Vasa museum
3: Changing of the guards | We gathered half hour before to get a good sport & was awed by the band & marching soldiers
4: Woah.. a car can usually not go through this street where we could touch the sides | The palace, the little islands, gamla stan, narrow streets,cars colliding with the tram, the expensive $6 water... Stockholm won us over with its charm!
6: Sailing into Helsinki, Finland... | Train station where batman was filmed | The while parliament house center of attraction, where we caught a car race | A church built inside the rock
7: visited an old house, & walked by the pretty buildings | We walked and explored this city & tried their potato pie
8: Mysterious St Petersburgh | Church of spilled blood and winter palace
9: It was a bustling place, we visited the main sights & ate a Russian lunch | Russia reminded us of India with its traffic and street hawkers
10: Heritage Museum was a feast to the eyes with paintings, its architecture of walls and its young artists making copies of the originals
11: The museum usually closed on Mondays was especially opened for the cruise ships only. Heritage to Russians is like the Louvres to French
12: We visited the church where the royal czars were married, and later burred
13: Well! a day was certainly not enough... we need to come back to Russia!
14: Sailing to Latvia, Riga.. exploring with the Gandhi family | A small town with buzzing markets and cheap amber
15: Ofcourse, narrow streets typical of Europe | Charming, but lesser in riches..
16: Our next stop was Gdansk, Poland | Whether it was beer, hot cocoa or coffee..there was a touch of euro charm & hospitality!
17: We were entertained by a melodious orchestra at a local church | We roamed through the quaint town by the river | Fountains and colorful buildings dotted this town | Yes, we want to come back to Poland again....
18: Sailing To Visby, our last cruise stop... We anchored close to coast & set out in lifeboats to this very charming seaside town | The light drizzle added to the mystic charm this town had..... This was one of one of our favorite cruise stops...
19: the streets sere lines with little houses with rose bush covered compound walls | The whole town was surrounded by a wall ruin, which was broken places to give a window view to the ocean | There were no cars or automobiles on the streets... just bicycles, trolleys and pedestrians | The young tweens & teens enjoyed exploring the town on their own as they zipped ahead of us.... and back to the ship in the trolley
20: Cruising Memories......
22: TouchDown in Delhi.... And quickly off to Agra Fort with Anita, Shanu, Kinnu & Adu in a nice van.. along with some uninvited friends...
23: Listening to the history related by the guides, walking by beautiful carved walls, amused by the huge bath tub the king used for bathing... Agra fort was a delightful spot!
24: Wah! Taj!
25: Whether it was beautiful wall architecture, mosaic floors, or decorative back gate, there is an unmatched serenity and beauty to the place
26: This place had a story of its own.. where women were chess pawns dancing on the bridge and the queens sat behind brick veiled windows | Next Stop... Fatehpur Sikri! King Akbar's treasures...
28: Rightfully called the city of pink walls... Jaipur, with its yummy food, pretty walls, palaces, snake charmers awed us all!
29: The city palace had amazing seasonal decorated doors that opened only during the season. They also treasured the olden day arms & vehicles
30: From Elephant rides to camel rides, wandering snake charmers,magicians with tricks, swirling dancers, delicious meals where you could spot Rishi & Praveen honored with turbans...Chawkidhani stole our hearts!
31: Jaipus with its Birla mandir, palaces and forts awed us all! Asking the children, what their favorite place was until now... it was not a surprise when they quipped - Jaipur!
32: Our last stop was Amer Fort A beautiful structure protected by a wall border that ran through the hills.
33: Elephants vied with humans as you trekked or took the steps to the top | The garden, the lake, the hills provided an unmatched serene view!
34: Fun times with Arthi & Sathi in Bangalore! | We shopped in the malls, visited gardens, and ate good food. Siona & Rishi loved India's new tiny car! No place for Rishi, so he actually rode in the trunk!
36: Nothing to beat good old Yercaud.....
37: Spent lovely days taking walks, exploring plants, playing with dogs, eating home food and enjoying the serene views!
39: With the whole Mayurm family at Priya's baby shower
40: Celebrated Rakhi, ate dosas, visited my dear friend Akila, went to the beach, shopped in malls and enjoyed Madras!
41: Summer 2011 zipped by too fast....
