A year later, John Winthrop and his Puritan settlers of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, arrived to the north of Salem. On September 17, 1630, Winthrop decided to make Shawmut a permanent settlement and renamed it Boston, after his hometown in Lincolnshire England. Winthrop and his followers left England to get away from the religious persecution, also to establish a fulfilled religious Puritan state. CItizenship in Massachusetts was restricted to the church members until 1664. The colony was taking on representative institutions which helped form a future democratic nation. During the next two centuries Boston developed as a center Puritan life. The first printing press in the colonies was built in Cambridge by Stephen Daye in 1639. It is warm weather with a slight breeze from the Atlantic ocean. Whereas in the winter the average is 27.2 degrees Fahrenheit. You would want to bring shorts, tank tops, and sandals. But for the chillier days i would recommend a pair of jeans with a long sleeved shirt. | http://www.portlandmonthly.com

Let the journey begin | Journal Entry #1 | Today was perfect, the weather was nice. It wasn't too hot but wasn't cold! i decided to visit the New England Boston Aquarium. It was amazing! I had the chance to see penguins slipping and sliding on the ice along with the sea lions showing off their tricks! My favorite part was the Caribbean reef. The exotic animals were just too cool! There was also a four story tank filled with a variety of fish and sharks. i haven't ever seen anything like it! Right now i am in a cab driving though out the Boston city Streets on my way to a fabulous Italian restaurant by the name of Lucca. It was on the recommendation sheet so i thought I may try it out! Wish me luck! | http://itsmyitaly.com

Journal entry #2 | Yesterday was good, but today was even better! i decided to check out some of Bostons History. I went to see the Bunker Hill monument which was very neat, and visited the Old State House. I really enjoy my time here in Boston. the weather is nice, and there is so much to do with so many different restaurants to eat at! Nothing could get better than this! It is very easy to walk around here, everything is close and there is plenty of small boutiques along the way for me to visit. | http://www.telegraph.co.uk

JOURNAL ENTRY #3 | Today was a little hot for me to be walking around so i decided to go to the beach! I layed my towel down and tanned for a while. I would get up a few times to dip in the warm water. afterwards i got a little hungry so i decided to go back to my hotel and fix something up for lunch. Now i am in a cab going to the great Strand Theater to see the Nut Cracker. | http://www.flickr.com | http://www.boston.com

boston | Journal | #4 | It is my last day here in Boston so I have decided to go on a whale cruise! I get to watch how the whales interact while on a comfortable high speed catamaran. After this I am hoping to find an amazing restaurant to eat at. Then finally I will be on a plane heading back to my home town, Kansas. I sure will miss this City! | http://reserve123.com

Overland Park compared to Boston | Boston is a big city filled with Historical sites, fun activities, lots of people, and tour through out, while Overland park is a small city with not a lot to do. Both cities are in the united states but Kansas is known as the Heart of America. Boston has beaches and harbors while Kansas has pools. Overland Park and Boston are both very beautiful cities to see. | http://la.wikipedia.org

The effect of my journey to Boston | This Journey to Boston has changed the way i look at America. I had seen all the hard conflicts they had to go through to give us freedom. I was able to see amazing animals and eat at amazing five starred restaurants. This journey was more than i could ask for! | An actual Journey that had an impact on my life. | A journey with such an impact on my life was going to New Hampshire because they have such a different life style than us who live in Kansas. The had no side walks, only two lane roads and it was completely normal to see a moose, bear, wolf, or dozens of turkeys walking past your drive way. The houses are completely spread out and it would take 45 minutes just to dive out to the grocery store, where as in Kansas everything is right next to another.

Boston | You should visit Boston. It is very fun and there is alot to do!
