S: New York & East Coast Trip (July 27-Aug 8th 2010)
FC: McCoy Family Vacation Summer 2010 New York and East Coast
The ALL night flight to Rochester 6pm-9:30am
We first went to the hotel and rested for a bit. Then we drove up to Niagara Falls. It was a magnificent sight and very windy! Half way through our walk it rained really hard and we got drenched. It was a perfect way to start our adventure.
Smith Family Farm | Day 2
The SACRED GROVE was such a wonderful, peaceful experience. The pagent ended a couple weeks ago so we were the only people in the Grove for most of the time. We talked about the 1st vision and how the gospel has impacted and blessed our life. Such a neat experience that we will always remember.
Next stop on the 2nd day was to the HILL CUMORAH. It was neat to walk up the hill where Joseph Smith found the gold plates. The opening of a new dispensation and receiving the Book of Mormon
Erie Canal & Martin Harris Home
Day 3: Whitmer Farm where the 1st church meeting was held. Then the long drive to NYC.
Day 4: We stayed in New Jersey just on the other side of the river for the next few days of seeing NYC. The first thing this morning we drove into NYC and we were all so excited! We decided to kick off this part of our trip with a ferry boat tour around the harbor. For 2hrs we went around to the main tourist sites. We got to see Ground Zero, Brooklyn Bridge, Ellis Island, Manhattan, Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty and so much more.
 Lady Liberty
We went and saw WICKED on Broadway. The performance was incredible!
Sunday Stroll Through and Around | Central Park
Manhattan Temple This building is a temple and church site combined.
We found out Sunday that Whitney, Joe and Ellie Hardie had moved to NYC. We arranged to see them that night. We visited at their apt and then went out to dinner. It was so fun to see them!
 DAY 6
Amish Country: Fireflies, home made root beer, and amazing Amish food.
Day 7 was spent in Gettysburg. We went to the museum & then drove around town looking at the monuments. Day 8 - Kirtland Ohio We toured the church sites and the temple, and celebrated Caitlin's 18th birthday.
 Kirtland Temple
The final day we drove to the airport. Once at the terminal we waited for a while & then we were told that we would not make our connecting flight & we wouldn't catch another flight until the morning. They put us into the Radisson hotel for the night. The next morning we caught the shuttle to the airport at 5 am. Security had tighten for some reason and Caitlin had some problems getting through because she had turned 18 on the trip and didn't have a drivers license. After some questioning we finally were able to start our flight home. It was an amazing trip. A lot to pack into 9 days. Every minute was worth it.
