2: Bon Voyage!!! First leg of our trip. Delta Air to JFK, New York...

3: We're so excited...we just can't hide it!!!

4: Barcelona Int'l Airport | Buenos Dias Barcelona!!! Waiting for a 5 passenger taxi. We met the nicest taxi driver...Josephine. Wish we had taken a picture with her.

5: Barcelona, Spain

6: 19 Tallers Barcelona, Spain | Las Ramblas | The front door to the apartment. | The very narrow stairwell to the apartment.

7: 2 bedroom apartment, sleeps 5. Sofa bed in the living room for 3 days was 450 euros.

8: La Boqueria Public market located in Las Ramblas. Fruits, seafood, meats, and many more.

9: So many exotic fruits. Known to me by name, but have not seen until there.

10: The alleys in Barcelona were an adventure in itself.

11: ...it wasn't long before we discovered this place. | ...every alley had something exciting going on...

13: Pinotxo Bar in La Boqueria. Went there for breakfast, and had the BEST Catalan pastry..Xiuxo ("shushu"). Don't miss their chic peas and spanish sausage too. Be honest with what you eat, because Juanito (owner) is depending on you to remember when it's time to pay.

14: BARCELONA BUS TURISTIC The double-decker bus is the most convenient way to discover Barcelona's most interesting and attractive sights. You can get on and off the bus as many times and for as long as you like at any of the 45 stops.

15: ...It is an audio guided hop on, hop off bus that takes you around the city...the blue line, the green line, and the red line.

17: Historic Arenas de Barcelona Was an arena for bull fighting, now a commercial mall since bull fighting is prohibited in Barcelona.

22: Four of the 18 spires when completed. Represents the 12 Apostles, 4 Evangelists, the Virgin Mary, and Jesus Christ. The cathedral has 3 entrances which symbolized the 3 virtues; Faith, Hope, and Love. Each of them is also dedicated to a part of Christ's life.

23: The numbers symbolizes the passion of Christ. Added, vertically, horizontally equals 33. The numbers of years Christ spent on earth. | Christ journey to the cross and Peter denying Jesus, as the rooster crows 3 times. | Sagrada Familia

77: Mount Vesuvius is best known for its eruption in Aug 24, 79 AD that led to the burying and destruction of the Roman city, Pompeii. Mt. Vesuvius has erupted many times since and is today regarded as one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world. It is the most densely populated volcanic region in the world. | Naples, Italy

79: Pompeii was partially destroyed and buried under 13-20 ft of ash and pumice in the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius.

80: Pizza Margherita was first baked in honor of the Queen of Italy, Queen Margherita. It was designed to follow the colors of the Italian flag, so he chose tomatoes for the red, basil for the green and Mozzarella for the white. | The best pizza I have eaten.

97: Yummy Cannoli...Well known dessert in Sicily. | Trinacria, is an ancient symbol of Sicily. The triagular shape represents the triagular geographical shape of the island.

98: Mt. Etna

99: Mt. Etna is Europe's highest and most active volcano. Last eruption was Oct. 2011.

101: The first trip to Europe was an adventure of sightseeing, people, food and culture. We flew into Barcelona for 3 days before the cruise started and had the most amazing time. Barcelona, the little of the city that we saw in a short period of time made me fall in love with it, especially the food. Return visit is for certain.. Five cities in Italy on the cruise gave us a glimpse of Italian food and culture. Venice a city on the water gave us the experience of a lifetime, traveling on the vaporetto. Duvrobnik and Marseilles could have been better, but too short of a visit. Thank you Lord for the safe travel and all the blessings on our lives!
