S: Year 1 - Continuing To Interact

FC: Grace | "Don't urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God."

Medical Campus Outreach exists to glorify God by training a new generation of health-care providers to bring the healing of Jesus Christ to the world. | Puddin'

Angie - I am thankful for you!!! I remember meeting Angie my first Sunday at First Pres at the evening service. She was going to go to dinner with a friend sometime that week and invited me to come. We ate at the Snug. Little did I know what would develop from there... That was the year 2000. A year later she was moving to Nashville and spent the night at our house. I had just finished my 1st year of medical school and gone on my 1st mission trip (to Venezuela). Somehow I thought it would be a good idea to start up a Bible study for the girls in the class a year behind me although I had no idea how to do that. I remember Angie sitting in the living room of our Vineland house - her life in complete transition. I think her dog died that day - she was eating take-out and sharing an encouraging verse with me. 2 Kings 3:7-12. Here's an excerpt: "I am but a little child, I do not know how to go out or come in...Give your servant therefore an understanding mind...for who is able to govern your great people...Behold, I give you a wise and discerning mind." I had never heard that verse before. I was amazed and encouraged to pray and seek the Lord. Then there were the houses of Townvue and Cambridge where we were roommates 2003-2007. Angie was a friend to encourage me all throughout the 4th year of medical school and even more so during 3 years of residency. Most people feel lonely, isolated, overwhelmed, beat down, and exhausted during residency. I'm not going to say I never experienced those feelings, but it was so much more bearable because of Angie's consistent love and encouragement for me. She spoke the truth. She spent time with me. At times I was a bottomless bucket of need, but somehow the Lord supplied Angie with love and she poured it into me. She listened to my stories. She met me for dinner at Theresa's time and time again. I don't know how many times I cried and cried and it was ok. I had a system of coming home post-call and showering and

sleeping. Then when I woke up - still tired - I wanted normal conversation and normal life, but I had no energy to call anyone. God provided fellowship, encouragement, and love again and again through Angie. Practically, she also helped remind me to brush my hair, buy new clothes, accessorize, and get rid of some items that were not needed (i.e. the denim jumper and the stone-washed jeans). I know that during these years Angie's ministry has been broad and deep among women at MCG. God has given her amazing gifts and she has been faithful and obedient in using these gifts for the advancement of the kingdom. When I reflect on my life, I am so thankful to have a friend who has been so faithful in communicating the love of God. I am excited to see what God has for her and for Kevin in this next chapter. I'm confident that He is faithful and will use different roles and new circumstances to draw her deeper and deeper into relationship with Him. | Friend

"Behold I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." Isaiah 43:19

 Encourage | Embrace

"You can give without loving, but you cannot love without giving." | "Maturiy starts with the willingness to give oneself"

"I have one desire now - to live a life of reckless abandon for the Lord" | Dear Angie, I will truly miss you being my boss! Since you cannot disown your second Mom, I look forward to our continued friendship in the future (how's that for some good ol' Mom guilt??). It is difficult in words to express what your friendship means to me. You have mentored me through this "fog" of discipling dental women and I will be forever grateful. You know I would have quit after that crazy first year if it had not been for your encouragement and wisdom. I can't wait to see what God has in store for you and Kevin next. There are 2 verses that come to mind when I write this short note: 1 Corinthians 2:9 and John 15:7-8. I love you! Your friend and S.M. -Nan

 Diva | Sassy | Tender

Dear Angie, I have a hard time sitting down to just write out what a special and wonderful friend you have been not just to me but to our entire family! I think on the 8 years we have lived in Augusta and you have been such a big part of those! Think back...you have always tried to love and serve us in so many ways! The first staff training we went to you are forever sealed as "Aunt Cookie" by sweet Mary Rushton! All due to how you were trying to help me with my toddler when John wasn't there yet. Your time these years we have spent together are so woven with the threads of your love towards us and so many other people! Luke being born...who else could have done the "butt pat" as well as you??? Mary Rushton and Jack dates with Aunt Cookie! Reminding me of truth at work! Shopping at Mast General!! Lending me accessories to make me more fashionable than I really am!! Encouraging me in bible study leadership!! The list goes on and on! Thank you for how you have selflessly served so many people in the name of Christ and of community. The Lord has used you in so many ways in so many people's lives. You have listened, served, laughed, encouraged, pursued, and all in all been the Aroma of Christ to our family and so many others! I can never thank you enough for your love and encouragement to us. You will forever be the sweet Aunt Cookie that you established yourself in July of 2004. We love you and are so excited for you about this next season of life for you and Kevin. In Christ, Jen, John, Mary Rushton, Jack and Luke

"Restlessness and impatience change nothing except our peace and joy. Peace does not dwell in outward things, but in the heart prepared to wait trustfully and quietly on Him who has all things safely in His hands."

"I wanna have pride like my mother has, And not like the kind in the Bible that turns you bad."

Sacrifice | "It is in our acceptance of what is given that God gives himself"

 Commitment

Angie, For one of my dearest friends and partners in the gospel, I hope you are encouraged about the depth and breadth of your ministry with your time with MCO. Remembering our discussions during your senior year at Georgia College, reminds me that you have ALWAYS tried to make decisions based on loving God with your heart, soul, mind and strength and loving neighbor as yourself. During multiple conversations in the midst of these difficult transitions of life, you have said that God has you where He has you because He is good and He is doing what is absolutely best for you. You have always reminded me and challenged me to believe this no matter the circumstances. He is always good and always powerful and orchestrating our lives to give us what is best.

You have intensely poured your life and energy into the lives of women through the MCO community. I have heard you speak of countless names of women you have led in Bible study, met for lunches, dinners, prayed for and prayed with, counseled, cried with, made meals for and ministered to in immeasurable ways. Women have ministered in Jesus’ name around the globe because Jesus has used this investment you have made in their lives. The Kingdom has been and continues to be impacted by you, a single-minded, focused woman who has chosen to live your life for the Glory of God. I hope you view your time with MCO as a time where God used your faithful service to bring others to know Him and through your loving sacrifices, you have helped chip away the selfishness and pride in others and encouraged them toward a deeper trust and rest in Jesus. You are very kind, compassionate and gracious to the women in your life and you are always pointing them to the truth of the gospel at the same time. It is such a privilege to be a part of your life and to see God multiply your life as you have been seeking first His Kingdom and His righteousness. Love you bunches and appreciate your commitment to the gospel of Jesus Christ. He is worthy. Wendy

"All women become like their mothers. That is their tragedy. No man does. That's his." | My Dear Angie, From the first time I heard your voice, when Kevin insisted in his half conscious state, for me to talk with you, I knew you were the kindest, most caring and special person. I could see how Kevin had grown, especially spiritually - no one had ever had that effect on him, I knew that he had met "that someone special." He had even said "Mom, this is the woman I am going to marry." We did finally meet and I knew instantly you were or had become a vital part of his life. At Christmas, my family summed it up best with "Aunt Kathy, Angie is a keeper". You had already become a part of this family. | Angie, I want you to know what a special daughter you have become to us. We love you with all our hearts and are so thankful God brought you and Kevin together. Love to our Daughter, Ronnie and Kathy
