S: ENA 2004 - 2011
FC: DAVID WESTMAN Executive Director 2004 - 2011
1: Executive Director | David Westman came to the Emergency Nurses Association in 2004. His experience as a managing director with RSM McGladrey, Inc. as well as experience at KPMG, LLP, Chicago, were the right mix to begin his career as an executive director of a professional association. His areas of expertise had included working with not-for-profit clients, with a specific focus on national societies. With an MBA from the University of Chicago and his CPA, as well as the not-for-profit experience, David was well positioned to help ENA move forward with its strategic initiatives. His strong business and compensation acumen meant the completion of a compensation program, the establishment of a project management office, increased communication and transparency, especially at All Staff meetings, and expanded | marketing and public affairs programs. As David became effective as member of a group of executive directors from related health care organizations, | he sought to provide continuous excellence by benchmarking.
2: Bio, cont. | Continuous excellence became the hallmark of David's tenure at ENA. He established a small group of officers known as the ENA Officers Group. They, along with the larger Executive Team, supported and encouraged staff to participate in ENA's continuous excellence program. His enthusiasm and high standards of excellence resulted in a culture where staff has worked hard to provide members with the best conference, Web site, education programs and publications possible. ENA participated in Chicago's 101 Best & Brightest Companies to Work For, and was awarded that status in 2008, 2009 and 2010. As David leaves ENA, he has been instrumental in weaving in TeamSTEPPS as one tool to achieve various goals recommended by the Business Excellence Implementation Team.
