 OurWedding Day Has Finally Come!

 I Do

Dave and I have witnessed pretty much the whole romance, starting with a couple of summers in the Berkshires, and continuing with visits at various apartments with various room mates and various dogs in Boston, the wedding itself (although the New York/Caracus years were kind of a lost period), the "young children" phase (to include several christening shindigs that were really just excuses to get completely wasted), the Open Door policy on Fairmount Avenue, the occasional Portland Symphony-related rendezvous at our place in Bowdoinham, and of course a long history on the Cape including our "move" to Ephriam Covel Road so that we could obtain Mass. licenses in order to eventually obtain German licenses. This little shenanigan actually worked, by the way. The ever-hospitable couple also has bailed us out of a couple of potential international incidents, such as the time that 14 year-old Kit had to fly from Milan to Fargo, North Dakota with an intermediate overnight on Fairmount (albeit without his luggage which sat in Milan for four days before heading off to Fargo on its own). Then there was the time that Dory had to renew her passport at the last minute. She made a special trip to the Boston passport office with all the requisite documents, but the good folks there had neglected to tell her that they wouldn't issue the passport on the spot. So Lucy gamely drove downtown the next day to collect it and then handed it off to Mark who was on his way to a PSO gig; we met up with him on a street corner in Portland on a blustery February evening for the delivery, the day before Dory was to get on a plane for Italy. We've got another few years of work in front of us but then we'll be happily rendezvousing once again with the happy couple at one campsite or another in some bucolic spot in our respective camping vehicles. So far, it's been real fun. Mazel tov! Cheers from Dory & Dave

 The Best Years Yet

Dear Aunt Lucy and Uncle Mark, Wishing you all the best on your 30th anniversary! We love our days in Wellfleet with you. So many good memories my kids have hanging with you and Gordon at the beach and ponds. I always look forward to the dinners and drinks, laughing and sharing stories. Thank you for opening your home to us and letting us be a part of your lives. Here's to the many more laughs and good times ahead. Happy Anniversary! Love always, Sarah, Dan, Caitlin and Danny (and of course Max)

St. Lucia has these great natural bath springs right next to a really "pumping" volcano. These are for sure one of the best ways to fully rejuvenate after a hard climb or bus ride up the windy mountain. However if you want the full tour with bus ride you pay extra. You might even see a howler monkey or something like that. The water was a bright yellow reminiscent of what ends up in the toilet, the volcano was at best stinky like sulphur, but yes, there was at least something, some wisp of something, coming from its mouth and the guide seemed awfully proud of it. But what the hell, we saw at least 4 of George Foreman's houses and what could be better than that! I bet none of you knew that George Foreman, aka Mr. St. Lucia extraordinaire, owns 4 houses there. At least according to some folks! | A Few Words From Buddy and Marcy

We are headed to Doyles. I have never been to Doyles. Marcy and Lucy and Mark and Buddy. Doyles seems like the kind of place one could spend a lot of time in. It was in fact one of the more authentic neighborhood bars I have ever been into. We didn't stay long and I have never been back, but for one short trip with Lucy and Mark I never would have been to Doyles and what a shame that would have been. | We are in Jamaica in Negril on the long beach. We are sitting on the beach and Alex and Gabie are playing. It is indeed a clothing optional/nudie beach and we are all in concurrence that we wished it wasn't because some people have no shame. Yes, you morons, WE were all clothed! It's specifically some of the heavyweight dudes in the speedos that worry us. Worry us greatly.

Aunt Lucy and Uncle Mark, Wow! 30 years together. Congratulations! You are both amazing people! I want to thank you for so many wonderful memories you have providing our family. Growing up, I looked forward to our crazy Christmas eve parties and seeing your family. Now, my kids look forward to seeing you both each year on Christmas eve and each summer. In addition, each summer you welcome my crazy family, aka “the Seans”, to your home. We now plan our summer around when we can go to see Aunt Lucy and Uncle Mark at the cape! I was actually surprised we would be invited back after the first year as my children dug up your entire front yard with their bulldozers, shovels and dump trucks. I am confident you will be finding toys and other items buried in that yard for quite some time! I can’t imagine how many of our baseballs have ended up in the “closet of forbidden toys” over the years! Aunt Lucy, Ryan looks forward to fishing with you throughout the year. In his journal entries at school, he drew pictures and wrote about fishing with Aunt Lucy! I can’t thank you enough for the memories you are providing him! Sean loves going to the beach to play ball, swimming at the ponds, and telling both of you all of his stories. He has the gift of talking, just like his mom! Kevin loves everything about the cape, especially Gordon! He loves playing catch with him every day! We are happy that Gordon has survived, “the Seans” coming to his house! And, our dog Fred should thank you Uncle Mark too! After our visits to your home, he asked everyday for a dog like Gordon! Gordon is the reason Fred is here! We look forward to many more wonderful memories and laughs! We love you and will toast with you again this summer! Love, Maria, George, Sean, Ryan & Kevin

Uncle Mark and Aunt Lucy - We decided to ask the kids to use one word to describe each of you. Six words were chosen: Adventurous, Goofy, Entertaining, Goofy, Energetic and Goofy! Denise and I thought about the great times we have had going to drinks after plays in Boston, drinks at the Beachcomber, drinks at the Truro house, drinks and Chinese food in Los Altos and drinks at beach campfires with you. Basically, you are an adventurous, energetic, and entertaining couple with a lot of goofy mixed in, whom we love to hang out with. Cheers, Mike, Denise, Megan, Alli and Seth.
