1: How was it that Joe- a California kid attending Golden State Baptist College met Jenn- a Texan girl attending Oklahoma Baptist College? Fifteen hundred miles separated these two. It is amazing that they ever met, much less that they are getting married. Despite the distance, God saw fit to bring them together. Unbeknownst to either of them, Joe and Jenn had a common friend- Charity Silva. She was Joe’s Pastor’s daughter who at the time was attending Okla-homa Baptist College where Jenn was. It was this “matchmaker” who took it upon herself to introduce them to one another. It was Christmas break in 1999 when Joe saw the first picture of Jenn. They soon started writing and calling and began to take an interest in one another. They first met when they rendezvoused at a church in Arkansas when Joe travelled there with his college singing group. It was more awkward at first for Jenn, but they both left very interested in finding out more about each other. Over the next year and a half, they wrote and talked off and on, because Joe was a slow mover. Finally, Joe started to realize Jenn was someone he did not want to lose, and got it in gear. In the spring semester of 2001, Joe flew out to Oklahoma to see Jenn, and then flew Jenn to California to see him. Things were really moving now. On March 22, 2001, they became boyfriend and girlfriend officially. Then on November 22, 2001, Joe first told Jenn that he loved her in San Antonio, Texas. It was on August 13, 2002, Joe and Jenn were engaged in Morro Bay, California. Now hundred of letters and thousands of phone conversations later, Joe and Jenn have through God’s grace started right, dated right, and are today marrying right. As they continue together now in the Lord’s work in the youth ministry at Fundamental Baptist Church in Santa Maria, California, they will hold dear the memories that each one of you have made with them through the years and want to thank you for sharing in their joy on this special day.
