4: Laura Nares Lancer Dancer Coach Laura attended Carlsbad High School and was a four-year member of the Lancer Dancers varsity dance team. Under the direction of Carrie Smith the team was awarded 1st place National Champions in the Varsity Jazz division for three consecutive years in Orlando, Florida. Thank you, for all of it. I love you. Keara: Looking back on this year I am amazed at how far we have come and how much we have achieved. I am so proud of our team and I love all of you so much. We truly are the Dream Team and National Champions. Thank you for this amazing year and the countless memories. Lani: It has been a privilege to be your captain this year. The team won a gold medal for hip-hop and a bronze medal for jazz at the National Dance Team Championships in Orlando, Fla., on Feb. 6. The 12 dancers competed with more than 600 teams from high schools across the country in front of more than 10,000 spectators. The Carlsbad varsity dance team has gone to the national competition every year for more than a decade, taking first place eight times. Last year, the team won a bronze medal for its hip-hop dance. The Carlsbad Unified School District Board of Trustees recognized the team as part of its regular meeting this week.
