S: Moments of my Life, by Justin

BC: Adoption Day November 2002

FC: Justin James Weston | The making of a man.

Dear Justin, Time is tricky. It hardly seems possible that a little over 18 years ago I picked up the phone in the kitchen and was asked if your Dad and I would open our home to a 3 month old baby boy. It seems absurd that my tiny baby with the kissable chunky cheeks and beautiful smile could be 18. I blinked my eyes and the infant we brought home became a child. I blinked again and you were a teenager. And now, you are an adult, and you're making plans to head out into the world and live your own adventure. How is this day here already? Where did all the days go? As I scroll through these photos, I see the answer to those questions. I see how you grew up, right in front of my eyes, and I am so proud of the person I see in these pages. I put this book together so that no matter where you are, or what you are doing, you can look through it's pages and be reminded that you are never alone. As you turn the pages and revisit the memories of your childhood, I hope that you see what I do. Laughter. Tradition. Adventure. Family. And most importantly, LOVE. So much love. Justin, I loved you with all my heart the moment I first picked you up, screaming, from your car seat. You made me a mother in that moment. You made us a family. You were our first, bumbling attempt at parenting, and I thank you for your patience and understanding as we charted the course. I pray that the lessons you learned along the way prepare you for a life lived with passion and joy. Maybe one day, when you're really old (like 36 or 37 maybe!) you will find this book among your things and give your mom a call. We can remember the adventures together, and talk about all the new ones that you've had since your 18th birthday. You will change more than you know in the years between now and then, but one thing won't change at all. Ever. I will always, forever, and no matter what, love you with all of my heart. Happy 18th Birthday, Justin James Weston. We are so blessed that we got to be your parents! | April 26th, 2000 January 8th,2018

"Mom" -A woman who walks around with her heart on the outside of her body

Be kind. The world needs kindness. Don't fight against something, fight FOR something. Never pretend to be someone or something you're not. Especially for a girl. You are enough, and the ones who think you're not are wrong. Don't make to many choices that are counterproductive to your ultimate goal. And if you do, remind yourself that you're still learning, all the time, just like the rest of humanity. We learn from our victories and from our failures. And every moment is a chance to make a different choice. Be generous. Give freely. Smile at people and allow them to be human. Remember that everyone is going through their own crap. Give your time, your money and your attention to serving a cause bigger than yourself. You won't regret it. Keep in touch with your family. Nurture the relationships with your siblings. They will be here after we're gone and you're going to need each other. If you get in trouble, and life is hard, read these words and know that you are an incredible human being. You have a great mind, a loving heart, and people who love you are a phone call away.

 Hi Son.

 J G

You were so amazing when Christian was born. at 8, you were able to be such a big help to us, and a fun playmate for your younger siblings. They both think you walk on water, even when they aren't acting like it. As you find your way in life, don't forget that there are those at home who miss you and love you. | Brothers

 My Brother, My Hero!

You will be the only big brother he ever has. You are his inspiration, His role model. You will forever be someone he looks to for advice, encouragement, and support. I am so glad that he has you, and can't wait to see you both grow and change throughout the years.

 Maui, 2007

You know how we always tell you to work hard so you can play hard? This is why. All the sacrifices and hard work that we put in to daily living pays off when it's time for a vacation. At the young age of 18, you have been to more places than most of your peers. You went to Disneyland when you were 2 and 6 When you were 7 we went to Maui and you learned to snorkel. When you were 8, we went back to Hawaii with the Coulter family and you learned to surf. We spent 10 days in Orlando, Florida with Grandma and Tasia when you were 10 and went to three of the four Disney theme parks, both Universal Studios Parks, and we got to see the final launch of the space shuttle Atlantis. You've been to Haunted Holloween Nights with dad twice, and Legoland, and have been on TWO Disney Cruises. So as you look at these pictures, send up some gratitude and remember that not everyone gets the opportunities that you have gotten. Never take your blessings for granted. | Surfing in Hawaii, 2008

Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breaths away. | Disneyland, 2002

It's the little moments that make life big. | Watching History. Space Shuttle Atlantis- The final launch. | DisneyWorld Orlando Florida, 2010

Seaworld & Legoland 2007 (Christian was on this trip too. We just didn't know he was tagging along! He was about the size of a kidney bean.)

 Disney Cruise, 2016

The Disney Fantasy 2016, Eastern Caribbean 2017 Western Caribbean | Why aren't there more than three pictures of you on our 2016 Disney Cruise? Two reasons... 1. Mom lost her phone at the airport as we arrived home. 2. WE NEVER SAW YOU! You were off having fun with your newfound friends from all over the world. We would see you for a few minutes in the morning, and then again at dinner. The Weston Family had so much fun on that cruise that we just had to do it again. The Pistons cruised together in 2017 and had another fantastic adventure! (And again... didn't see you much.)

Laura is growing up so fast. crawling around getting into anything and everything. Before you know it she'll be walking. | I am so proud of you. You have always been smart, and curious and willing to try new things. From your love of Sushi and teaching yourself to read by the time you were five, and learning to swim like a fish when you were 6, you have always faced life head on. Those skills will serve you well in life. I am so excited to see what you are going to learn next.

2012 Hornet Football | J. Weston #25 Running Back Full Back

You started playing the violin in first grade and then played Cello and Viola in middle school. You may not believe me, but once upon a time you loved country music and sang along with your dad. Music has always been a big part of your life and although your tastes have changed over the years, your love of music has not. We love having conversations with you about the things you listen to and what you hear in them. Thank you for sharing this passion with us. | Let's make some

Life is made up of moments. And although no two moments are ever the same, by celebrating traditions we create a bridge from the past to the present. Holiday feasts that always include orange cinnamon rolls.. Warm cookies and milk and a conversation about the first day of school... RHIP and making sure that you are always, ALWAYS having fun! As you begin your journey as an adult, may the traditions you celebrated in childhood continue to connect us through the years. Who knows... one day you may be making first day of school cookies for your own kids! | Seasons of Life. | Celebrating the

Lights. Trees. Stockings. Presents. Family. Laughter. Fishing for People with ribbon. White Elephant Gifts. Orange Cinnamon Rolls. Prime Rib. Zoo Lights. Game Night. Santa. And Family Pictures. It's Christmas, Baby! | 2005

 2011 | 2010 | 2009

 2010 | 2013

You may be an adult now, but you will never be too old, or too cool, to sit on Sants's lap! | Never too old (or too cool) to sit on Santa's Lap! | 2017 | 2018 | 2014

Since the day you started Kindergarten, all of your teachers have said that you are a pleasure to have in class. in 12 years, you have gone to 7 schools. Surrey Gardens, Sunrise, and Kibbler Elementary. Thunder Mountain Middle School. Mountain View, Eastern, and Jefferson County High School.) When you start the first day of whatever school you decide to go to in the future, make sure I know the date of your first day and I will continue the tradition of cookies and conversation. I may not be able to be there to hug you in person, but I'll FedEx you some Snickerdoodles, and give you a call.

Where are your "official" school pictures? Well... weeks after they were taken, i found the order envelope and check in the bottom of your backpack. And, being the shutter bug that I am, I decided to just take them myself. in this age of cell phone cameras, you will obviously not ever lack for photographic evidence of your existence.

This is it, kiddo. It's official. You are no longer a child. I hope that you look at these pages and see what I do. A baby that was so very wanted. A child that was so very loved. A young man that made us laugh and was a hero to his siblings. This book is a record of your childhood. Now you will leave childhood behind. The next book is yours to write.
