BI: Dearest Friends, I really wish I could say something smart and witty and life-lasting to put in our Christmas card this year. 2012 started out with sickness and heart ache. If January was a taste of what the year was going to bring, I was ready to skip to 2013 and try again! But for the grace of God. Even though the year was full of challenges, It was also a year overflowing with blessings. Life is so different; so sweet; so much more everything ... even on the darkest days.... with Jesus in our lives. This Christmas, I hope you know the greatest gift of all - Jesus. If you don't, I pray you'll give Him an opportunity to be known and to have a place in your life. All the things we seek during Christmas: joy ... love ... hope ... peace ... won't be found in a package under the tree. They are found in Christ alone. May your Christmas be filled with Christ and may each and every day of the new year be filled with Him, too. FI: For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. For in the gospel, the righteousness of God is revealed - a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it was written, "The righteous will live by faith." Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 1:16-17, 5:1-8)
BC: I stand amazed in the presence of Jesus of Nazarene, And wonder how He could love me, A sinner, condemned, unclean. O how marvelous! O how wonderful! And my song shall ever be: O how marvelous! O how wonderful! Is my Savior's love for me! He took my sins and my sorrows, He made them His very own; He bore the burden to Calvary, And suffered and died alone. When with ransomed in glory, His face I at last shall see, 'Twill be my joy through the ages, To sing of His love for me. O how marvelous! O how wonderful! And my song shall ever be: O how marvelous! O how wonderful! Is my Savior's love for me!
