FC: Anglo-Saxon History

"The Anglo-Saxon period stretched over 600 years, from 410 to 1066..."

Anglo-Saxons originated from three different groups of people., the Jutes, the Anglos and the Saxons. Right after the fall of the Roman Empire is when all three groups began to make there way to Britain.

Anglo-Saxons preferred to live in villages rather than towns that already existed upon arrival. They tended to stay clear of Roman towns even though most Roman towns were in ruins. | It took about 18 trees to provide enough wood to build a Saxon house.

As the Anglo-Saxons began to populate Britain so did the religion that they followed known as Paganism. Shortly after, there religion began to transform slowly to Christianity./ | Paganism is the oldest religion known to humanity, Pre-dating the Christian religion, therefore pagans follow traditions which are as old as humanity itself.!

 King Egbert 802-839

There are three reasons for King Egberts success. One of the reasons was how he had control of the South East. The second reason was Egbert himself. His personality and decision making helped quite a lot. The third reason was the effect of what happened after the Danish invaded.

King ALfred the Great | 871-899

The majority of the years that King Alfred the Great ruled were spent trying to defeat the Danish from invading England. | After Alfred died his son Edward became King.
