1: Anglo-Saxons Food and entertainment Rachel Ross

2: Anglo-Saxon women sewed, weaved, and made clothes for entertainment.Both Anglo-Saxon Men and Women were buried with their possessions when they died. | Men loved fighting and were very fierce. Anglo-Saxon men Were fair haired, tall, and armed with swords,round shields, and spears.

3: The Anglo-Saxons loved hunting, horse racing,music-making and feasting.They liked to play dice and board games such as draughts and chess. | While feasting Anglo-Saxons enjoyed entertainment such as watching the juggling of knives and listening to a harp being played.Dancing, Singing and Storytelling were apart of long indoor winter nights. | Children played with spinning tops and hoops, and carved wooden toys such as small wooden boats and and horses.Girls of five or six were spending half their day learning to spin wool.Younger boys spent their time in the fields or tending the animals.

4: The anglo-Saxons always ate what they grew which were cereals, vegatables,and fruit. The cereals they grew were wheat and rye to make bread,oats to make animal food and porridge, and barley to brew.The vegatables they grew were carrots, cabbage, parsnips,beans, onions and peas.The fruit they grew were cherries, apples, and plums.Other exotic foods of the new world which were bananas, pineapples, tomatoes, and potatoes were fruits and vegatables of the new world.These foods were unknown to the Anglo-Saxons.

5: The fact that Anglo-Saxons couldn't get meat very often made most of them vegetarians.Deer and wild Boar were common but only the people who owned the land could have access to these wild animals.Just a few Anglo-Saxons could afford to pay enough for the slaughter of an animal. | Pigs were the most important meat to the Anglo-Saxons.The large litters that they produced would quickly mature and become ready for slaughter.Other kind of animals were killed when they became old or ill.These animals served other purposes such as the cow for milk, and when it became old they used the hides, meat and glue for other things.
