1: What is HIV/AIDS? -HIV is the Human Immunodeficiency Virus which later leads to Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. -When HIV is contracted, specific blood cells are attacked. -These blood cells are CD4 and T cells which are blood cells that help fight diseases.

3: Where? -Scientists have traced the HIV virus back to a type of chimpanzee that is located in South Africa. | -Hunters contracted the virus through the hunting of the chimpanzee. -The infected blood of the animal came in contact with the hunter's mouths when eating resulting in infection.

4: Causes -HIV is spread through the unprotected sex of individuals. | -The virus also comes from having multiple sex partners.

5: Symptoms -A few weeks after being infected with HIV some people develop flu-like symptoms -People with HIV can look healthy for a number of years.

6: - It is reported that in 2006, 56,000 people obtained HIV virus in the US. -The Center for Disease Control predicts that 1.1 million people infected with HIV/AIDS are living in the U.S. alone. | STATS

7: Effects -HIV/AIDS attacks blood cells, these cells are known as CD4 and T cells. These blood cells are used for fighting diseases.

8: AIDS in America | -The disease hit American headlines in 1982. Scientists came together worldwide and soon after found the source.

9: Magic Johnson | Former NBA basketball star Magic Johnson obtained the virus in 1991.This not only stopped his career but also put his life on hold.
