3: Isolationism is a policy of avoiding all foreign alliances. For the first part of World War I, the US chose this title.

4: Neutrality is the policy of not choosing sides in a war.

5: Neutrality is the official position that the United States took in the early years of the first Great War.

6: This is the infamous sinking of the beautiful Lusitania. She is a huge passenger ship and was shot down by a German U-boat. | World War I.

7: Germany sent a telegram to Mexico asking them to join the Central Powers if the US entered the war. In return, Germany | promised to restore the light green region of the picture on the left to Mexico after America and the Allies were defeated. The light green region consists ofNew Mexico, Arizona, and Texas. This was another main cause of America joining the Great War.

9: This is the famous picture of a famous US icon. This is Uncle Sam. These posters were all over the country after America joined the war. Why, you might ask. The Selective Service Act of 1917 was a law that required men between the ages of 21 and 30 to register for the draft. This act caused nearly 10 million | men to register for the draft in only one month.
