i dedicate this book to my best friend Matthew because he inspired me to write this book.
Recess= cold and dreadful Bobby was sitting on the wall at recess with nothing to do. Stepping onto the cold wood chips made Bobby feel very lonely. Every time Bobby steps on the wood chips alone he feels lonely. He really wanted a friend to play with. He kicked the wall with anger. Bobby knew it was wrong to say no when somebody asked to play with you at recess, but the kids did it anyway. How do you feel when people reject you when you ask to play with them? Bobby didn’t have any friends so that’s why he always would ask to play with people. He felt so lonely that all he would do at recess would be to kick the wood chips. “Can I play soccer with you,” bobby asked. “NO,” Reid blurted. “Why,” Bobby asked. They would just ignore Bobby. “I’m cold,” Bobby said. The only response was NO! Bobby hated when that happened to him, but he put up with it.
He asked Larry to play with him. Happily he said yes. This was the only yes he got. “This may be the only yes I’ll get,” Bobby thought. “Really?” “Yeah,” Larry replied. Walking to the swings Bobby yelled “Race ya!” They went on the swings. Larry didn’t really like the swings so Larry flew off of the swings like a branching owl. off of the swings and said “Let’s do something else.” “Ok, what do you want to do,” Bobby replied.
By the time they could think of anything the whistle blew and they had to go inside. They were in different classes so they could only see each other at recess or after school or on the weekends.
The next day they thought of something. Bobby tripped and got hurt. He got Band-Aids in 4 places. Bobby wasn’t hurt that much but he didn’t like the feeling of blood on his knees and elbow.
Bobby cried but he was ok. He had to get Band-Aids again. They decided to not play that game anymore. This time Bobby got to decide what they were going to play. Bobby chooses the monkey bars. Reid [A really mean kid] came and knocked down Larry. BANG!!!!!!!!! Larry hit his head on the hard rubber floor. Reid went to the principal’s office. After many times he stopped. Reid really regretted knocking out Larry. Reid has never been to the principal’s office before but should have gone like 1000 times. “Reid, come in to my office now please,” Mrs. Klowjzhi said. “Now, how do you feel about knocking out Larry Cornpequal.” There was no response from Reid for a couple seconds. “I said” “I KNOW WHAT YOU SAID,” exclaimed Reid. “I’m calling your parents! YOU ARE NOW SUSPENDED FROM SCHOOL PROPERTY!!!!! YA HERE ME REID!!! YOU HERE ME!!!!!!!!!!!”
Larry was unconscious. Bobby cried himself because his best-friend was unconscious. To get to the ER they all had to ride in an ambulance. Once Larry woke up he didn’t remember 1 little single tiny thing. “Uhg, where am I,” Larry grunted. “You’re in the ER,” the doctor said Larry was staring at Bobby then in a split second he remembered that his name was Bobby. “Bobby is that you,” questioned Larry. “Yup,” Bobby replied. “When Reid tackled you and right as you landed on your leg. I knew that you were going to chip off a bone piece in your leg. Well and I also knew that Reid was going to get suspended,” Bobby said happily.
As soon as Larry got out of that hospital; Bobby and Larry Became really good friends. Even though Larry had a giant cast on his leg they were still best friends again.
TWENTY YEARS LATER At a track meet [Bobby and Larry never met up for 10 years] Bobby saw Larry cheering loudly. Bobby dashed over there and started talking. Larry thought that Bobby was crazy but in a split second he remembered.
LESSON Even though you may be different than somebody you two can still be really good friends. So don’t be afraid to make a new friend.
