FC: 2014

 2014

It was really nice to only have to drive for a little over an hour and hop on the ship. We are so glad this Houston port is open again. The only small draw back is that it takes about 3 hours to get out of the ship channel, but Mickey always enjoys watching the pilot boats and the Galveston scenery as we pass by...

All Aboard | Anna was amazed at the size of the ship. She is so excited about her "first" cruise"...first that she remembers anyway...we showed her pictures of her Disney cruise when she was about 3 1/2, but she doesn't remember much. | She wants to start by touring the whole thing...top to bottom...and front to back

Never stop exploring | Day 1-Arrival Saturday, April 26, 2014 - from Anna's journal Today we got our bags and waited in a line for an hour before boarding the ship. When we finally got on board, we took our bags to our room. There were balloons on the door for Mom's bday. :) Then we went and ate lunch at the buffet. We then toured the boat and looked at all the things to do...then the silly muster drill. After that we relaxed in our room until it was time to go swimming. I swam for about an hour before we went back to our room and got all dressed up for dinner. We ate in the Island dining room. Right after that I went to bingo at shock waves {the pre-teen area}. Then I went to bed...can't wait for more tomorrow.

 Let the journey begin!

food | The first thing we wanted when we got on the boat was lunch....a delicious buffet was waiting for us. That was our favorite lunch option most days, but we could also get burgers or pizza by the pool...or even room service included. (We did a breakfast in bed one morning...just for fun) Dinners were nice sit down meals with full table service and yummy desserts.

We let Anna get the "beverage sticker" on her card for $7/day...that means free Cokes, free milk shakes, and free "mocktails" for the rest of the trip. | She enjoyed at least one of each most days... the "no-jito" was her favorite

 Our Beautiful Boat

...a little home away from home for the next seven days...

 Our Stateroom

 all five of them

So many things to do...which should we try first?

 "Dumb O-64...we almost won!"

Day 2-At sea Sunday, April 27, 2014 - from Anna's journal Today we woke up and went straight to the gym (where mommy told me the treadmills were running the ship :-) ) We walked for about 20 minutes, and did our crunches. Next we went to the breakfast buffet. Then we went to the gift shop where I bought a princess cruises snow globe. I went to the shock waves club for awhile then met mom and dad to eat lunch by the pool. After that I went back to the shock waves place for coloring t-shirts and an ice cream party. We started getting ready for dinner around 4:00. It was formal night so we had to dress up really nice. We ate in the island dining room again. After dinner we went to see an Illusionist then relaxed in the hot tub under the stars while watching "Catching Fire". I love the "Movies under the Stars". | SHOCKWAVE | Bedhead contest :)

Keep calm and cruise on! | Does it get any better than this?

MAGIC | The entertainment on this ship was not near as good as prior cruises. In fact, the dancer/singers were pretty bad. We did enjoy the illusionist, and the comedian was pretty funny...though a very short show.

 Sunsets at Sea

 Love

Our wine tasting and souvenir shot glass collection...plus my complimentary birthday cake.

We were very impressed with the improvements that have been made to Cozumel since we were last here 10 years ago...much cleaner, safer, and organized.

COZUMEL | ____ | Awwwwwww Yeah...we packed a bag and got on a taxi to a beach about five minutes away. After teaching us the basics they let us get in the water. Our main dolphin's name was Luis. He was about six feet long and over 400 lbs. We got to ride, kiss, dance, hug, pet, and play with him for about an hour before getting back in the water with a gigantic manatee. We didn't get to spend as much time with the manatee, but I did get to feed him some lettuce. Mom says he sure is awfully big for someone who eats almost entirely salad. :) After that I went to the gift shop and bought a stuffed dolphin with the dolphin discoveries symbol on it for $12 while my parents were buying our dolphin pictures. When we got back on the ship, we rested in the room until dinner. We ate in the Island dining room again. | Day 3-Cozumel - Monday, April 28, 2014 - from Anna's journal Today we woke up early and went straight to breakfast at the buffet. After I ate a very large breakfast we went back to the room and got ready to go to Cozumel. We had to have everything we would want for...get this, SWIMMING WITH DOLPHINS!!!!!!!!!

 Swimming with the DOLPHINS!!

These Are The Moments I Live For

 DOLPHIN | kisses

 Dances with Dolphins

 SUN | F U N I N T H E

Day 4-Honduras/Roatan - Tuesday, April 29, 2014 - from Anna's journal Today we got up and ate breakfast...the same routine as yesterday with all our stuff; we got off the ship and got on a boat where we were going to go snorkeling and riding an underwater scooter basically. So we rode on the boat for abut five minutes to the spot where we could swim. We were the blue group so we went second. Until our turn we got to snorkel for about 30 minutes, where I saw lots of fish. When it was our turn, we got to go on the scooter or what they call the BOSS. It is an underwater scooter with a bubble for your head to go in. We rode for about 30 minutes before snorkeling some more then heading back to the meeting area, where I decided to get a butterfly shirt and nail polish that changes color in the sun. After we rode back to the ship. We got lunch then watched another movie by the pool. The theatre show before dinner was some dancers (that I was not really impressed with...Mom agrees I could dance better).

 Ready for HONDURAS!

 "NO DUCK FACE!!"

 Honduras2014

 "like a BOSS!" :)

The perfect way to get from boat to beach...

 Mahogany Bay in Honduras

The Tenders... Docks in Belize are too small and the waters surrounding it are too shallow to manage these huge ships, so we anchor and "tender" in using much smaller boats. Ours was the "Amy" :) | Carnival's ship was tendered too...

Wait! Don't leave us! There were a few stragglers that caught the very last tender a little late...they were racing toward the ship as the guys were pulling in the ropes.

The drive...a tour of Belize... | Belize is off the coast of Central America...ruled by Queen Elizabeth II (seen on their Belize dollar).

Anna commented that Belize looks a lot like Haiti likely looked before the earthquake, and she is probably right. The explanation of the strict burial rules was interesting. Graves are always facing the same way...and buried 3 ft down and 3 ft of stone above. | The "bump"...when we got to the small park where the cave tours began, they made us get out of the tour bus and into an old diesel school bus that could make it over this very steep hill...the pic on the left doesn't really do it justice. It was quite a roller coaster...

Day 5-Belize - Wednesday, April 30, 2014 - from Anna's journal Today we had to get up extra early so we ordered a room service breakfast. After we ate, we packed up for Belize. Today we are going to go Cave Tubing. We rode on a bus for about 1 hour and 30 minutes to a place in the rainforest where we walked for about 20 minutes before arriving at the cave. There were 8 people in our group so we all hooked our tubes together and went inside the cave. The water was, as the guide said "shockingly refreshing" :). In the cave we saw stalactites, stalagmite, and some very pretty quartz. There were also a couple bunches of bats at the end of the cave. The cave was used by the ancient Mayans; they called it Shebalba or "the Underworld". After the cave tubing we got back on the bus where we ate some pringles and M&Ms on the way back, and I took a little nap. When we got back to the dock, I bought a pretty Sarong. At dinner mom and dad had a dinner date in the dining room while I just ate pizza and painted my face and hair with the Shockwaves Club. The water started getting pretty rough...I started feellng kind of sea sick...Mom brought medicine, so I fell right to sleep.

The wildest of all...before cave tubing... | ...and after cave tubing

the WILDLIFE | our little deck birds | and our black tip visitor

Day 6-At Sea - Thursday, May 1, 2014 - from Anna's journal Since I wasn't feeling well my mom and dad brought me breakfast in bed and let me sleep in which wasn't a big deal cause we don't have anything scheduled today. We just hung out, played cards, and I went to shock waves for a little while. After lunch we hung out some more until it was time to go to dinner. One of my favorite things has been hanging out with mom and dad while they don't have to work or anything. Tonight is another formal night so we get to dress up really nice again. Mom made us take a gazillion pictures before we could eat dinner. Tonight it was Lobster night so I got two giant shrimp, a Lobster tail, rice, and asparagus, along with a salad and a shrimp cocktail. After dinner we went to the dance floor for the balloon drop. I got a purple and blue balloon. Then we went to the Casino where I couldn't gamble but I was the cheerleader, until I got kicked out for just standing there. I didn't even do anything; they just said "she can't stay in here", so while my dad lost all his money me and mom went back to the room and watched a movie, then went to bed. | Formal nights

 Cruise Full of Memories

...cool drinks and sand between your toes. | May your time be filled with relaxing sunsets...

Hanging out with my mom and dad... | Having my bed made and room cleaned everytime I walked out for a few minutes... | Day 8-Leaving - Saturday, May 3, 2014 - from Anna's journal Today is the last day so we got up early; we packed up last minute stuff and went to breakfast in the dining room. After breakfast we played cards and journaled until it was time to leave. When they called our group (cream 4) we went to customs, got our stuff, waited in a long line, the police guy checked our passports, then we packed it all in the car and got lunch on the way home. That's it...til next time...:) | The favorite things that I will surely miss: | The food... everywhere... | "It isn't how much time you spend somewhere that makes it memorable: it's how you spend the time." - David Brenner

Broken toilets should be fixed in less than 4 hours. | Don't make us hook our tubes on the cave tubing tour... | We need free soft drinks included in the price and access to them at every restaurant. | More power outlets in the rooms... | Don't close the pools so frequently and add a slide or two... | Photos need to be digital and viewable from rooms...with several affordable packages available including an all photos option. | Better signage to restrooms... and more clocks on the wall | Better entertainment... | Suggestions for next time:
