1: During Picasso and Braque's life time | Time Line | 1900-The Art Nouveau style dominates design and architecture around the turn of the century in France. Paris and the northern French city of Nancy are centers for the production of Art Nouveau decorative arts objects, architecture, and entire domestic environments. 1905 The first exhibition of the Fauvist artists is held in Paris at the Salon d'Automne. Among the group is Henri Matisse, André Derain, Maurice de Vlaminck, and others. 1921 Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel (1883–1971) introduces Chanel No. 5, which becomes the world's best-selling perfume. 1935- Ballpoint pen was invented. 1947- Instant photography was invented by Edwin Land.
2: The natural BEAUTY of southern Thailand was stunning. | BIOGRAPHY | Georges Braque | Birth Date & Place: May 13, 1882 Argenteuil, France His Life: The family moves to Le Havre in 1890 where the young boy has his first encounters with paint and brushes in his father's painting business. He was guided by his fathers business and never was discouraged from becoming a n painter. As he attended art classes these painting tricks his father used came in handy. He went to lectures and classes but continued his apprenticeship as a decorating painter. Shortly after moving to Paris he gave up on decorating painting and solely painted independent work.He contributed his Fauvist colorful paintings to his first exhibition at the Salon des Independants in 1906. Braque and Picasso worked close side by side.The drastic change in Braque's painting style can be directly attributed to Picasso. Death Date & Place: August 31, 1963, Paris, France.
3: Pablo Picasso | BIOGRAPHY | Birth Date & Place:October 25, 1881 Magala, Spain His Life: His Father was a painter and an art teacher. His parents supported him in his art path. Pablo said, "When I was a child, my mother said to me, 'If you become a soldier, you'll be a general. If you become a monk you'll end up as the pope.' Instead I became a painter and wound up as Picasso." He was relatively poor student but showed great talent. At the age of 14 Picasso was admitted to Barcelona's most prestigious art schools. Though he was not of age they made an exception for him. In 1907 he met George Braque and their work and camaraderie immediately emerged.After Braque came back from serving in the military Picasso had expand his work in the mean timeBraque felt like Picasso betrayed the cubism movement. 4: Braque's Early Career | Braque's early artwork was mostly landscapes, still life, or portraits. He used bright colors and patchy brush strokes.
5: Picasso's Early Career | Picasso was very talented artist. His early work showed his ability to shade and depict real life images
6: Braque's Middle Career | This is where you start to see the cubism appear. They are pieces of scenes and you can make out objects but nothing is really clear or obvious.
7: Picasso Middle Career | Picasso began to venture into the cubism but with people. The figures are often distraught and chaotic.
8: Braque's Late Career | Braque and Picasso worked in synchronicity until Braque's return from war in 1914. When Picasso began to paint figuratively, Braque felt his friend had betrayed their Cubist systems and rules, and continued on his own.
