2: Charlemagne was the Holy Roman Emperor and the King of the Frankish Empire during the 700s and 800s AD. He was a leader of a large amount of people, especially for his time.
4: He had a great military mind and won many battles as he more than doubled the size of his Frankish Kingdom during his reign.
6: Charlemagne was a devout Christian.
8: In his campaigns through Europe Charlemagne converted the people he conquered, sometimes forcefully, to Christianity.
9: Charlemagne is credited with being the Father of Modern European Catholicism.
10: Even though he was forceful, Charlemagne was a great leader. He was strong and had conviction in what he did. He lead his people to glory and expanded his Empire beyond its old limits. Charlemagne was a tough, courageous autocratic monarch who believed in what he did, and that made all the difference.
