2: My name is Christine De Pizan. I was born in 1663 in Venice, Italy. Throughout my life i have had a lot of stress. To take out all my stress i have been expressing my feelings by writing. | Venice, Italy
3: It all began when i was fifteen. When i was fifteen i married Etienne Du Castle. we had three children. i had one daughter, which we had to send her to live at the Dominican Abbey, a son named Jean, and our other child died during childhood.

5: In order to support my family and I, I decided to start writing. When i began i was writing love ballads, which caught the attention of wealthy patrons within the court. | These patrons were intrigued by the novelty of a female writer and had my compose texts about their romantic exploits. I don't really want to brag, but I had a lot more intelligence and education beyond any other girl. I got most of my inspiration from my dad and husband. | Christine De Pizan
6: I have been taking a lot of time to write now since my husband has been gone. I had completed some of my most successful literary works, The Book of the City of Ladies and The Treasure of the City of Ladies, or The Book of the Three Virtues. I have spent a lot of time thinking these books through, but they all have a personal meaning to me.
7: The book of the City of Ladies shows the importance of women's past contributions to society.
8: The Treasure of the City of Ladies, or the Book of Three Virtues strives to teach women of all estates how to cultivate useful qualities in order to counteract the growth of misogyny.
9: I began to notice that I was the only woman in Europe to be successful and make a living by writing. I decided to break the traditional roles assigned to most woman which us women had no legal rights and were considered mans property.

12: I found myself in a debate with another writer, and his name was Jean De Meun . I hated him so much. He wrote a book called Romance of the Rose.

14: This book was horrible, he depicted women as nothing more than seducers. I argued that these terms denigrated the proper and natural function of sexuality, and that such language was inappropriate for female characters.

16: Christine De Pizan writing | I really get mad when people talk down towards the females. We are just as good as the males if not better.
17: Through out my life I have had a lot of success in my writing over my years, and I have enjoyed it. I have completed many books and other writings.

19: I have accomplished most all my goals and my main goal which was to keep the females strong. So now at age Fifty I have decided to retire at a convent.
