FC: Civil War Photographs Brianna Mesick~bm03765

I chose this picture of General Grant to reenact because I like how he looks more relaxed and laid back then all of the other Generals. They all look very formal, like they are trying to impress somebody, but Grant doesn't come across that way in this picture. That is why I liked it so much.

I chose to recreate this photograph because I thought it captured the idea of death being everywhere you looked at this time. It also causes you to focus on this one person.

This photograph appealed to me because I thought that it looked very natural. He wasn't posed for it so it shows a quiet moment away from the battle where he is not consumed by the war. I liked how he was just sitting with his dog and thought it would be a perfect picture to reenact.

I liked how this photo shows two men that seem to be friendly with each other, so they were probably fighting for the same side. One man appears to be a higher ranking officer and the other a regular soldier. This photograph shows how people fighting for the same cause can stick together, or enjoy one another's company despite their rank.

I thought this photo was interesting because these two men look like just ordinary people. I couldn't quite tell if they were soldiers from the picture, however they most likely have seen some hard times since the war had been going on and I wanted to capture that look of hardship and survival in my reenactment.
