1: Martin Luther was born on November 10, 1483 in Eisleben, Germany.
2: Martin's family were peasants and did not have very much money. Luther was sent to school at an early age and was able to get a bachelors degree. He then continued to receive a further education at law school.
4: In the summer of 1505 Luther was returning to school during a thunderstorm. He shouted "Help St. Anne, I'll become a Monk!" The lightning bolt nearly missed him. Luther had to keep his promise to become a Monk.
6: On Halloween in 1517, Luther posted his 95 Theses declaring that people should break away from the Roman Catholic Church.
9: Martin Luther translated and published the bible in German. He helped promote religious freedom for hundreds. He is responsible for founding Lutheranism and tolerating Judaism.
10: Martin Luther died on February 18, 1546
