Thank you for taking the time to read this. | A Note To You | We are Mark and Cindy. We thank you for taking the time to read this and for your willingness to know more about us. The decision you are making is the most selfless act you will ever make and the fact that you must make it at all causes my heart to skip for you. In the following pages you will learn so much about us, where we come from and our hopes and prayers for our family. | It is with humble hearts that we introduce ourselves and our family to you. As you look through the many families you are learning more about please know that our prayers are with you for God's blessing and direction for you and the smallest but most important selfless act you are offering. Thank you and God bless each step you take. Much Respect, Mark & Cindy

Adoption has already touched our hearts and our family in so many ways. We knew early in our marriage that we would adopt. When infertility issues presented we merely dabbled in Infertility work but then jumped right into Foster Care. We have since fostered approximately 22 children of varying races, adopting 2 of them. We recently decided to go with adoption for many reasons. The biggest reason being it is just so hard to say good bye after the children have been with us for so many months. It is hard on us and it is hard on Shane and Devin who really want a baby brother or sister. | I dare anyone to challenge that our kids are not really our children. We love them ferociously from the pit of our hearts. The Momma Bear mentality has shown itself on many occasions, when a need to protect them from the ugly in this world presents itself. They are 'ours' and we are 100% theirs, and they know that.

Aside from adoption, we have also dealt with other peoples racial barriers. Shane & Devin are both of mixed but unknown race. They have been accepted by our families and friends since their very first day with us. Race and adoption are not "issues" for us or them. They are proud of being "brown" and proud of being adopted. They know they are loved. | Shane is 11 years old, he came to our home at 8 months of age, his adoption was finalized just before his 2nd birthday. Devin is 10 years old, he came to our home 1 week before his first birthday. His adoption was finalized shortly after he turned two. They have both been great big brothers to nearly 20 foster children, they are looking forward to the one that gets to stay.

We have cherished the gift of watching Shane grow since he came to our home. We are so thankful for what we have been given in our kids. Shane is amazing. He is so bright and handsome and takes everything in stride. He has the ability to be anything he can dream of and big dreams are exactly what he has. His plans include Yale & NASA, after he plays for the NFL of course. He is an awesome big brother to Devin and the other little ones that have spent time in our home, it's always so hard for him to say good bye. He is very excited about a baby brother or sister. | Shane's idea of taking it in stride usually includes a football & cleats. | Brothers make the best friends. | Shane and Mommy hit the tube slides. | Tall Dark & Handsome Calm Cool & Collected

Devin is an awesome guy. He overcomes so many obstacles each and every day. He is definitely one of the biggest gifts we have ever received. He keeps us laughing all the time, and praying. He loves being a big brother to the many foster kids that have come through our home and loves the idea of being a big brother to a forever baby. He lives to play, laugh and go. He is on the wrestling team, fall & spring baseball team and the basketball team. He likes reading and taking drum lessons and he loves being outside, all year round. He loves Elvis, The Beatles and Classic Rock. You never know when or where he will break into song and dance. He is quite the character. 10: Our Family | Grammy & Grampy's Legacy | FAMILY | Every year, the Saturday before Christmas is reserved for celebration with Marks family, as is the week after 4th of July for Family week at the beach. Since this picture was taken 2 brand new baby cousins have come along. GIRLS ~ Just to even out the numbers a bit.

FAMILY FAITH FRIENDS | family ~ faith ~ friends I think everything we do fits into one of these three categories. We enjoy spending our time at church pot luck picnics and birthday parties for cousins and friends. Our faith is important to us, it's who we are and what we believe. Our families are also important to us. Even though both of our families are about 2 hours away in each direction, we enjoy getting together throughout the year to celebrate family.

Grammiff (graham-miff) is Cindy's mom. She lives about 2 hours away, but she comes to visit often, spending much of her free time with us. She loves being with the kids and keeping up with everything that goes. We can always count on Grammiff to show up when things get busy or boring. She is what a Grandma should be; busy, silly, supportive and a really good cook, especially cakes. | Grammiff shares her soup.

Sean is Cindy's nephew. He goes to school full time and works full time, both near our home, so he spends most of his free time doing his laundry and raiding our fridge. He is a vital part of our family and is always included in family events. Shane and Devin see him as a favorite uncle. | Sean and Devin enjoying dinner with the family. | & MORE FAMILY

Our Faith is important to us. Not just because we both work in a church but because it's how we choose to live our life. We believe that involving Christ in your life only makes it better. We agree that giving to the poor, feeding the hungry and loving the invisible should be basic standards of life. We have both traveled to third world countries on Service & Mission trips and look forward to traveling with our kids when they are old enough. Our goal for our children is to help them grow with a solid foundation of love; knowing they are loved by us and loved by God. We also want them to know that being loyal to God trumps anything else they might come against. | Our Faith | We attend a large multi-cultural church. It's the perfect place for us because there are other families made up of many shades, just like ours. Mark is the Youth Pastor and also oversees many of the Executive functions of the church, he also leads Worship on occasion. I oversee Family Ministry. Shane and Devin are involved in Pre-Teen Youth Group and Sunday School. Because we do not live near family, many of our friends from church have become adopted family for us. They are our local family and we often celebrate special events together and everyday events as well.

Our Home & Community | We live in a multi-racial, middle-upper class community. Less than 1 mile from our home are playgrounds, parks, libraries and shopping. Less than 2 hours from our home are major cities and national Children's hospitals. Our community is active year-round with lots of family programs like Easter Egg Hunts and Santa rides. There are excellent Little League programs from T-Ball & Swim Team to Football & LaCrosse and community classes for kids from swim lessons to Art. We live in a community where friends from school are also friends in our neighborhood, they're the same friends on their sports teams and the same families we run into at the grocery store. Our school district has a national rating of 9 out of 10 and is a National School of Character. The local Elementary and Middle School are both just a few blocks from our home. Besides the regular learning stuff, sports stuff and Music, Arts & Drama stuff, school is busy with food and book drives, Neighborhood Fun Fests and Family Game Night.

Devins favorite sport is baseball! #5 | We love our home. It is so full of activity and music and love. It is decorated with kids toys and family photos. It is where the kids and their friends come to play. There's a large backyard and always someone to throw ball with or play hide n seek. The kids and their friends are in and out all day long swiping popsicles and water bottles. | HOME: Where there are bikes in the yard, fingerprints on the walls, socks on the floor and echoes of laughter in the halls.

A family is pieced together with hope and faith. A family is quilted and bound with love and grace.
