BC: The End

FC: Designed with love by Connor and Selina | Our First Apartment

n the first of September in 2010, we arrived at building 33 on Isabella Street in downtown Toronto. This place was going to be our home for the next few years... | O

e were excited to start our lives together in this new city but there was a lot of work that had to be done to create a livable space for us. The apartment was quite small but it was just enough room for the two of us. We began unpacking and cleaning, scrubbing almost every surface throughout the place. It was exhausting but fun at the same time! | Enjoying a sandwich while sitting on our brand new unopened mattress | Break Time! | W

Scrubbing down the bathroom and putting up the shower curtain | Our luggage waiting to be unpacked | Setting up the Internet on the kitchen counter

Building our futon | ur first piece of furniture was a futon that we slept on for the first few nights. It later became the couch for the living room. The delivery came late at night and we stayed up putting it together so we wouldn't have to sleep on the floor! Now if we have guests over, they will have a place to sleep, too, if they decide to spend the night. | O

Scrubbing... | Wiping down the kitchen cupboards | That little fan kept us cool in the summer heat | ...and cleaning

All things grow better with love. | hile browsing through Craigslist for furniture, we came across a set of dining table and four chairs for a very low price. The seller's location was just a few blocks down the street so we called and arranged to pick it up right away! It was all very sudden and we decided to carry it over ourselves since it wasn't very far. We wanted to save money by not taking a cab but now we know it's too much work on our hands and we don't want to do any heavy work again! | W

 More cleaning... | ...and unpacking

New bed | We didn't have a bed frame at the time, so we had to make do with setting the bed on the floor | Making our first meal with the new pans we bought

Our first homemade meal | Stocking our fridge full after our first trip to the grocery store | Simple meat sauce spaghetti, Caesar salad, and a nice cool beverage

After a long day of work, we went out to Wanda's Belgian Waffles for a satisfying snack! | Strawberry and whipped cream waffles and ice cream crepe topped with fruit

In the middle of practicing bassoon, with the new shelf on the side | Cheap food at Ikea, which we later treated ourselves to after furniture shopping

Holding up our new curtain. We returned from Ikea with lots of new things! | Look at that! Coffee table, center piece, carpet, and couch cushions!

With the new furniture, our place was starting to look more homey. We still needed lots of things, like wall decorations and a TV stand. We found the TV for free because someone didn't want it! We were able to enjoy temporary cable because the previous tenants' cable service hadn't completely cancelled | Furniture Shopping

baking chocolate chip cookies | homemade nachos | chili, fries, green beans

 Cooking | Adventures

This book shelf was purchased from Craigslist!

fun times baking and decorating cakes | filling our cabinets

inally, after our first semester in Toronto we went back home to Vancouver for the winter holiday! It was a well deserved break and we were happy to be back with our families. We caught our flight in the afternoon, just after Connor's last exam of the term. | F
