1: Story of "the call" | When the dove returned to him in the evening, there in its beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf! Then Noah knew that the water had receded from the earth. Genesis 8:10-12 | But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in Gods' unfailing love for ever and ever. Psalm 52:7-9
2: Journal Entry September 26, 2002 I called our social worker in the morning to see if any matches were made. Our social worker said "no" and encouraged us to put "drug exposed" on our list which Rick was especially apposed to. Later that same afternoon the social worker Elaine, called us back and told us that there was a potential match. "A baby girl was born yesterday 9/25 and was 10 weeks early. She weighed 3 lbs." Elaine encouraged us to go visit the newborn girl in the hospital. I prayed "Lord do it unto me/us as your will and if this little girl isn't your best then show us but if she is clear the way."
3: Journal Entry October 1, 2002 Today we met and held a little 32 week baby girl at USC... We learned about the baby last week-a day after she was born The baby was born 10 weeks early at 31 weeks gestation ...the birth girl is unable to parent. We both held the baby and told her we loved her and referred to ourselves as Mom and Daddy. She opened her eyes for us and looked at us and smiled. She had the hiccups. We prayed over her and sang "Mommy and Daddy Love You", "Jesus Loves you.". We held her and took pictures. She had a full head of hair and her eyes were blue-ish...her little fingers were very long like mine (Mommy's) and her second toe is longer than her big toe (like Mom's). I made a blanket for her...with the scripture: Psalms 139 "I'm fearfully and wonderfully made, how precious to me are your thoughts O'God" along with her birth date and "I am loved"
4: Our first meeting; | Birth facts | You were so small and so adorable. The nurse asked "would you like to hold her?" I couldn't believe we could actually hold you. Daddy held you first and we took pictures, and cried. I cleaned your eyes and mouth with a cotton swab. Your parents were here now and would take care of you. You gazed at us as we held you. | Date: September 25, 2002 Time: 1:40 AM Height: 16 1/4 inches Weight: 3 lbs. 10 oz. Place: U. S. C. Womens Clinic
