Coffee - Page Text Content

Chapter 1 Erica opened the window. She had heard on the weather channel that there was a snow storm coming. Erica LOVED snow! So the other night, Erica went a little over board for good luck. She forwarded messages that she believed would help, slept with her pajamas inside out and even flushed an ice cube down the toilet! As Erica opened the window, she gasped. "Its snowing! It's snowing!" She hollered. "Would you be quiet!" I cried."I'm trying to sleep!" Erica just rolled her eyes.

"Brittany?" My mom rapped on the door. "Erica?" My sister didn't wait for me to answer. "Yes, Mother?" Erica said in a fake English accent. "School's canceled." My mom opened the door revealing her pajamas and fuzzy slippers. "Did you see all the snow-" Erica interrupted,"Snow!" She flipped her brown wavy hair like a model or something.

Chapter 2 Erica poured the rest of the milk into her bowl of cereal. "After breakfast let's go sledding!" She babbled slurping her cheerios. "Sure." I mumbled. I sipped the rest of my coffee. De-licious! And if you are thinking why is she drinking coffee,

well, it's a long story. It all started when my mom took me to StarBucks when I was 4. She ordered a X-large Cappuccino, and went to get a straw. She must have been gone for a long time because when she came back there was no coffee. Yes, I did drink the whole X-large Cappuccino. And yes, I was only 4 years old. Ever since then, I worship coffee!

Chapter 3 I slipped my snow-boots on and zipped up my winter jacket. "Are you ready?" I shouted up the stairs. "YES!" My sister replied loudly. She jogged down the steps, foot, after foot, after foot, after foot. Brushing

the lint off her pants, she petted Sugar Muffin, our Chihuahua. (Don't ask why we named him Sugar Muffin; just another one of those long, long stories!) I peeked out the window to the winter wonderland outside. Like a soft, white, blanket on the ground,it lay there flat.

Chapter 4 Erica and I made snow angels. Then, Gigi, our friend jogged over and we had a snow ball fight. Erica's black jacket was not black at all by the end of it! After that, Mom

made us hot chocolate. I'd much rather have coffee, but I'll admit, it was tasty! We pleaded mom if we could have a sleepover, and she finally said yes.

Chapter 5 At 3:00 AM, I was still wide awake. Erica went snoring away and Gigi was half asleep, half not. When one eye opened, it closed before I could say a word.

I woke up hearing giggling. I felt strange, like something was on my face. Then, I knew! "ERICA" I cried, knowing it was her. "GET THIS WHIPPED CREAM OFF OF MY FACE" If you ever have a sleepover with Erica, make sure you are not the last one up. She'll do one of her practical pranks on you! I felt a paper towel rub against my face. Still laughing, Gigi handed me

a mirror. I gasped. Not only did she put whipped cream on my face, but Erica also gave me a make-over. And a bad one. Lipstick ALL over my mouth, and to top it up there was a red dot on my nose. "Like your make-over, Rudolph?"

Chapter 6 When Gigi left, Erica and I gave each other a GOOD make-over. Then, we went outside. It wasn't like the winter wonderland it used to be, but there was enough snow for a snowman. Our snowman's name was Bobby. Bobby had a top hat left over from Halloween. My mom was out of carrots, so we used a peanut. It looked like

he had a flat nose with one nostril. After we were done our masterpiece snowman, we took a picture with Erica's digital camera. Mom called us in for lunch, so we had to bulldoze Bobby down. We kicked him till

there was nothing left but a soggy top hat and of course, the peanut. That afternoon, Erica and I went to the mall to get some winter clothes. We tried on funky hats and really big and heavy jeans. Before we left, we stopped to get something at StarBucks. I got my usual Cappuccino, while Erica on the other hand couldn't make up her mind about which smoothie flavor she should get. Finally after trying 5 flavors, she decided to have

the mango twist. We walked home bundled like Eskimos. Sure, the snow had melted, but it was still freezing! "Don't you just love the snow, Brittany?" Erica exclaimed. "If there's coffee!" I said. And we giggled all the way home.

A special thanks to Becca and Hayley L, A.K.A Erica and Brittany!

AND to Kathryn and Hayley M. and Maura!
