FC: Cotton Rosser: 2014 WFA Hall of Fame

In honor of Mr. Cotton Rosser

"Thumbs are like kidneys. You only need one." -Cotton Rosser

"Cotton Rosser is an inspiration to many, and a man that I was honored to meet in 2010 when we sat down to discuss Flying U Rodeo contracting with the Monterey County Fair. Since that day, he has been a true mentor and taught me how to effectively market Rodeo as an entertainment choice to the fair-going public. Cotton knows how to entertain a crowd in a timely manner and get them back out on the midway!" - Kelly Violini, CEO, Monterey County Fairgrounds & Event Center

"I have worked for, or with Cotton for 45 years and have seen hundreds of young men and women he has introduced to the agriculture industry. He has encouraged and inspired many of these individuals to pursue life long careers in the agriculture or fair industry." -Seth Doulton, Cow Palace Grand National Rodeo

"Cotton's life is one to be emulated not just in the arena, but outside of it as well." - Randy Bernard, CEO, Rural Media Group

Mr. Rosser's passion for fairs is golden and the countless hours that he has devoted to our entertainment program sparkles through his colorful production of action packed rodeos for fairgoers to enjoy, creating magical memories and a ton of fun for all ages!" - Vivian Robertson, CEO, Paso Robles Event Center

"I have had the privilege of working with Cotton's Flying U Rodeo and he has been a major part of the Kern County Fair for more than 30 years. Cotton and his staff have always exhibited a high level of professionalism and they continue to bring new ideas to add increased value to the PRCA Rodeo and Fiesta Rodeo." -Michael Olcott, CEO, Kern County Fair | "I believe Cotton Rosser exemplifies all the great qualities one would expect to see in a true cowboy." - Randy Bernard, CEO, Rural Media Group

"A trailblazer, Cotton took great pride in discovering the next big specialty act and always proudly showcased what every American believes in... the Red, White, and Blue." - Randy Bernard, CEO, Rural Media Group | "Cotton wore his cowboy hat with genuine pride. He was proud to be a cowboy and to showcase the virtues of the cowboy way of life to anyone who took the time to listen." - Randy Bernard, CEO, Rural Media Group

The "Professional Bull Riders" event has featured a long list of the toughest Cowboys from around the world who fought hard to stay on top of the meanest and nastiest bulls in front of a nearly sold out crowd at the Del Mar Fairgrounds Arena. I have had the pleasure of knowing the gentleman behind this popular event, Cotton Rosser, for 15 years. Based on his passion, dedication & outstanding contribution to keep rodeo alive, please consider Cotton Rosser when selecting those to be recognized at the 2014 Hall of Fame." -Timothy J. Fennell, CEO, Del Mar Fairgrounds

Cotton Rosser is a supporter of young livestock exhibitors. At participating fairs Cotton features the Parade of Champions giving the exhibitors and their families the opportunity to celebrate their achievements. Congratulations to Cotton, who has spent his life sharing the western lifestyle with millions of people. Happy Trails Cowboy! -Karin Rosser

Dad always said, Don't ever waste a good wreck unless you have paid spectators. Congratulations! -Lee Rosser | My father has always loved to put on a good show and provide quality family entertainment. The fair industry has been the perfect platform for him to fulfill his passion and entertain millions. The friendships and memories he has made within the fair industry have been some of the most memorable of his 60 years in the rodeo business. -Katharine Rosser | My thoughts of fairs when dad cut his finger off at Cal Expo during the bronc riding and wouldn't go in the ambulance. He wanted to wait until after the performance to go. -Cindy Rosser

Cotton Rosser invented the "Showdeo". He developed the "Showdeo" specifically for Fair Industry. A 'Showdeo is a shortened Rodeo highlighting the most attractive and most entertaining parts of a Rodeo in 1 hour. Cotton's goal is to "Keep the customers on the edge of their seats for an hour and get them back on the midway". He has always reminded me that "They can't spend money if they are sitting down or standing in line". At Monster Truck shows you know that cars will be Crushed. At Demolition Derby's you know that cars will be wrecked. However at a Flying U show, you never know what you will witness! Its no secret that the Fair Industry has been a key component to Flying U's 57 years of success. The Fair Industry has allowed Flying U Rodeo to perform in front of millions of spectators and showcase Cotton Rosser's style of entertainment. Flying U performances are often imitated, but have never been duplicated and probably never will! It's an honor to see the WFA acknowledge Cotton's life long commitment to the Fair industry. Congratulations Dad! Well deserved! - Reno Rosser
