1: Current events: Harvard cheating crisis A few months ago a Harvard University Professor gave his students a take home test for his students to do over a set time. When the tests were due the professor had figured out that his students were cheating on the test. The test was open book, note, and web but the students were told that they were forbidden from discussing the test with other students. But when the professor was looking over the tests he had noticed that the answers were all closely the same even the wrong ones. An estimated 250 students were accused of cheating and were suspended for a long period of time. How does this effect us? this shows that even the most prestigious universities can be cheated upon. And what if the students were training to be doctors and that was a very important test and then they graduated, later on in their paternal career as a doctor, those students might not know what to do on a operation or be able to know how to help someone. 2: Vice president debate Last week both the vice presidents squared off in a debate that covered stuff from health care to the war in Iraq. Both of the potential V.P.'s had their ups and downs but over all I would say it was a tie. Between Romney's vice presidents well answered statements and Bidden's smart comebacks to accusation it was hard to tell. How this could effect us is that this shows that who might be the better choice to choose to be president with a goog=d vice president as well. So far it's still anyone's race, we well see how it all ends in the coming weeks. Sources: http://www.cnn.com/search/?query=vice%20presidential%20debate&sortby=relevance

3: Fort Hood shooter trials Around three years ago there was a shooting at Fort Hood, around 13 people were killed. The man responsible was a psychiatrist for the fort by the name of Nidal Hasan. some of the people that were shot were military personal. The shooter was shot in the firefight but is alive and is still on trial today. A while back the judge said that the shooter must shave his beard because the judge found it to be detracting to the case even if it is against his religion. Today the trial is still going on and is being classified as a "workplace shooting" instead of a massacre or act of terrorism. Why this is important is that it shows how the judicial system classifies crimes and it well decide if this terrorist is going to go for a shorter sentence then what he deserves. source: Staff, CNN Wire, and Larry Shaughnessy. 4: "Friends are born, not made." ~Henry B. Adams | Beirut bombing Last Friday there was a car bombing in Beirut, Lebanon. The bombing took place sometime during the afternoon. When the car bomb went off it killed around 8 or more people, no terrorist organization has claimed to the bombing yet. There was a camera that caught what happened during the explosion from inside a store just outside the blast radius Why this important is that people died and it could lead to war or acts of revenge on other countries. 5: Presidential debate The last presidential debate was on Tuesday, the subject of the debate was energy and other matters. Throughout the debate Romney was a little off his game but so was the president. At the end of the debate the president and his opponent shook hands and left. The next day the judge and other debate officials had tallied the points and in the end, it was the president leading by 8 percent. Why this effects us is that this could show undecided voters who the better choice is and help decide how will be the next president of the United States.
