FC: Circle 1. The souls who are not tormented but live in limbo. They lived without christ but still lived good lives. Mostly made up of philosophers and poets.
1: Circle 2 : The Lustful and the punished. These sould stay caught in the winds of Hell just like they were caught up in their lustful lives on earth.
2: Circle 3 : The Gluttonous. Just like in their mortal lives of glutiny these sinners live in a place consumed with garbage and filth. Here Dante and Virgil speak with Ciacco.
3: Circle 4: The Hoarders and Wasters. The hoarders kept all their wealth to themselves all their lives. The Wasters spent all their wealth on material objects. They are to push boulders back and forth for eternity,
4: Circle 5: The Wrathful live in the River Styx which is interpreted by Dante a s a filthy marsh. In the marsh the wrathful live and fight in the filth for eternity. Dante and Virgil have to cross the marsh.
5: Circle 6: The Heretics: The city Di's is the capital of hell. Its a distorted version of its heaven counterpart. Divine assistance must help them to get past the gates of Di's.
6: Circle 7: The violent live here. They are the violent against self, violent against god, and violent against neighbors. Here there is the great barrier, the burning sand, the River of Blood, and the wood of suicides
7: Circle 8: The Fraudalent, here there is 10 different ditches which the souls are tortured in. It is home to many sinners with the simplest and most complicated fraud. All the sinneres are broken up into 10 different groups and closed in their ditches with a bridge structure.
8: Circle 9: The treacherous. The first circle includes the treacherous to their kin. The second circle is the treacherous to their country, the third the treacherous to their guests, and the fourth is the treacherous to their master's. In the center of it all is Satan encased in ice.
9: Here satan lies, in his three mouths he chews on Brutus with one mouth, and in the other Cassius the two men who killed Julius Caeser. In the thrid mouth is Judas Iscariot, the man who betrayed Jesus. He is forever encased, when he flaps his wings more ice covers him.
