1: Desiderius Erasmus was born in October in 1466. He grew up to be a intelligent man and a wonderful writer.

2: When Desiderius was 21, his guardians tried to persuade him. "Join a Monastery" his guardian suggested "You will get much closer to God.

3: "Ok" Desiderius said "I'm excited".So Desiderius joined the Monastery Canons Regular of Saint Augustine

4: While Erasmus was at the Monastery, The Bishop of Cambria came in search of a secretary. "Who qualifies for this job?" The Bishop asked.

5: "Your Resume is very impressive" The Bishop stated, "Come and work for me". So Erasmus left the Monastery to become the Bishop's secretary

6: After working for the Bishop, Erasmus wanted a better education "I will attend the University of Paris" Erasmus stated.

7: At the University of Paris he met many intellectual friends and received a Bachelor's Degree

8: He then lived in Paris for six years. "I will now take my long desired journey to Italy" he mentioned to a friend.

9: He visited the Coliseum, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and rode in many gondolas.

10: Erasmus then moved to England. He loved it there and got a teaching job at Oxford.

12: "Greek is a great language, but Latin is much more complex." was his motto.

13: Then he would lecture his students in Latin for hours. His students would fall asleep every time.

14: "I will now write a book" Erasmus declared one day ",I will name it The Praise of Folly." It will be about the morals of the catholic church.

16: "Have you heard about The Praise of Folly?" the townspeople would ask. "Is it true?" others would wonder.

17: "I heard he is writing a book named The Colloquia. It is supposed to be his best book yet!"

19: Erasmus wrote The Colluqia. It was his biggest hit! Many people loved this book. It was definitely his best. | Then he wrote Ciceroniansus which showed the people that Erasmus was definitely a humanist.

20: Erasmus has appealed to many humanist throughout time. He exposed the abuses of the Church, and did more than any other single person to advance the Revival of Learning. He also had unique experiences as a monk, a professor, and a writer. This inspirational person sadly died on July12, 1536 at age 70
