FC: Spring Vacation 2013
Our Ship - The Norwegian Pearl 2340 Passengers 1080 Crew Members Sailing Sunday, February 17 - Sunday February 24 Bahamas, Jamaica, Grand Caymans, & Cozumel
Enjoying the ocean, the view, the ship, the vacation:)
We really enjoyed the Broadway-style entertainment every night - in fact, most nights we went to both the 7pm show and th 930pm show! James especially loved being able to meet the entertainment. There was "Oh What A Night", Chip Romero, Second City, and of course the Norwegian performers
Climbing Dunn's River Falls in Ochos Rios, Jamaica. The Falls are 186 feet high and 600 feet long. Beautiful beyond belief! Most of the way up, the group holds hands - to help one another along, as it is slippery and bumpy and the water is really moving fast! Lucky Eddie, ended up holding the hand of a very cute girl. Funny, he didn't let go even when the tour guide said it was okay
Swimming with the Giant Stingrays in the Grand Caymans. Can you believe how blue that water is??? Tommy wouldn't get off the boat - at one point he clung to the railing. James was pretty nervous - see how he hung back? Eddie was good, until the biggest stingray of all came after the squid he was holding to feed them. No worries - he just handed the squid to me and shoved me in front of the monster. Thanks, son.
Swimming with the dolphins in the Grand Caymans - truly a dream come true, especially for Eddie (and me). Our dolphin's name was Reggae. We got kisses, patted his nose, and even got to ride belly-to-belly. Even James had to admit, that was pretty awesome!
 Dolphin Kisses
Eddie, James, Amy, Eddie, & Reggae - thanks for the awesome experience, Reggae!
Day 5 - The Grand Caymans
There's just something magical about dolphins!
Our cruise buddies - Lisa and Dave | Swimming with Reggae
Day 1 on the ship, and Eddie has the hot tub to himself because its 61 degrees, and only the people from Michigan and New York are in the pools | Hey, the sign said "Freestyle" | The boys spent the better part of the first day looking for this deck. Sorry, boys - wrong cruise
Tommy could run up $340 in charges to the room playing video games - in 3 days | The boys could consider 'wrestling in the state room' to be the #1 form of entertainment, ultimately breaking the guard rail on the bed, bending the towel bar in the bathroom, breaking the peep hole cover off the door, losing the remote to the TV, breaking the telephone, and bending one of the casters on the roll away bed. | We're on a cruise, enjoying a vacation, in the middle of the ocean... What could possibly go wrong? | We could manage to lose James' camera and Amy's cell phone, & break James' glasses & hearing aid
Day 2 - Great Stirrup Cay - the Norwegian's private island in the Bahamas. Temperature made it all the way up to 64 degrees. A little chilly for snorkeling, though Eddie and Tommy gave it a try. Tommy lasted about 8 minutes, Eddie made it for about 15. That picture at the top was as close as we got to seeing the beautiful fish described in the brochure. Well, at least there was drink service on the island!
 Day 4 - at Sea
While James loved the shows best, Eddie truly enjoyed the night life in the lounges. Whether it was the battle of the sexes in the Spinnaker Lounge, Karoke in the Bliss Lounge, or a presentation in the Crystal Lounge, when there was an event going on, Eddie was ready!
Can you believe we all actually zip lined through the Jamaican jungle?! Tommy, who is actually afraid of heights, assured me he would be fine, as he had seen this done on Family Guy. Eddie was eager to go, but James was a little nervous. He applied his hand brake too soon on all 3 zips, stopping about half way across each time. In the end, I was proud of all of us!
Go James! He perfected the hand-over-hand crawl to complete his zips | Eddie zip lined like a pro. The bigger you are, the faster you zip! | Tommy's comment after the zipping..."That wasn't as terrifying as I thought it was going to be for a life-threatening activity | Some other fat chick who must look alot like Amy - I guess to our Jamaican photographer, all us fat chicks look alike from this angle... | Day 3 Ochos Rios, Jamaica
White Water Tubing with the Chukka Tour Guides was a blast. The water was a beautiful aqua marine, and much much warmer than the Boardman in Traverse City. The Jamaican guides sang and joked and entertained for miles! One even sang "Shaving Cream"!
 Good times? Yeah, Man!
 Rolling down the river
Eddie loved the Chocolate Buffet. Tommy loved the towel animals left by our porter
Holding the parrots in the Grand Caymans. Eddie is a natural (of course). James and Tommy wanted nothing to do with holding the birds.
Day 7 - Cozumel, Mexico. This 'soldier statue' surprised us when he moved! Not many pictures from Mexico,as the boys were rather crabby about this excursion. Eddie was mad that he could not fish (the entire port is a national park). Tommy spent his day under a beach towel playing his game boy. James didn't like the food, didn't want to swim, and wanted to leave 30 minutes after arriving. Good thing this excursion included an open bar, or the whole day might have been a bust;)
 Washy Washy Happy Happy!
A grand farewell show to round out a grand vacation! Thanks, Norwegian Staff!
One final thrill - the ride to the air port in West Palm Beach (about 1.5 hours away) in a stretch limo - yeah, that's how we roll!
