FC: Shakespeare Elizabethan England

1: Geography | Europe England | Holy Roman empire was during this time period | English, Austrian, Spanish, French, Danish. | Many different nationalities in Europe at this time

2: Geography | Mountanous in northern parts. | Southern coasts had hills | To get around they used rivers, and most travel was done by boat | Natural barriers provided protection

3: Religion | Christianity,Protestant, 2 major religions | Bible tells about witchcraft, Witches were being hunted.

4: Religion | Schools taught the official religion decreed by the reigning Queen or King | Practicing to the 'wrong' religion brought risks to personal wealth, freedom and life | Elizabethan Catholics believed that Church Services and the Bible should be in Latin, as it had been for 1000 years | Elizabethan Catholics believed that Priests and the Pope were allowed forgive sin at a price. Gifts, or indulgences, were given to the church | There were many Catholic plots against Queen Elizabeth I - many Catholics wanted to replace Elizabeth with her cousin Mary Queen of Scots. These plots eventually led to the execution of Mary Queen of Scots

6: A | Achievements | Music varied, very delightful and moving. | Instruments were often used, mostly string, keyboard or wind | Sport tournaments, mostly archery. Gambling was big

7: ! | Achievements | Elizabethan Medicine - tobacco, arsenic, lily root and dried toad! Learn about Physicians, Surgeons, barbers and apothecaries! | Lilly Root | Queen Elizabeth was very smart and could speak several languages which was very helpful since there were many different types of people

9: Politics | During the Elizabthan Era punishments were very harsh and severe This is called the scavengers daughter. | People were tortured and arrested after committing a crime.

10: Monarchy | Laws were based and controlled by Queen Elizabeth. People were required to do what they were told | Polotics

11: Woolen CLoth was the most important element. Also so was mini portraits | Economy

12: Economy | The Amount of food you had during the Elizabethan was based on your social status. Social Class's were very important Meat was a primary food and was only consumed by the wealthy and high class. What people ate explained who they were compared to society

13: Society | Women did not wear white wedding dress's, they wore there best gown. | The busiest time of year was during harvest time, and hay making periods. Families usually worked together. | Family was very important. High regards for family | Woman were inferior and dependent on men. Work in close family units

14: Society | Education was very important. | During the Elizabthan era The monarch had the highest social class, then nobles, then gentry then merchants and lastly laborers who had the lowest social class

15: Shakespeare

16: His life | William Shakespeare was born on April 23 1654 in Stratford-upon-Avon, He was the third child of eight. Shakespeare eventually married a women name Anne Hathaway and had three children names Hamnet, Suzanna and Judith. Shakespeare Later moved to London to follow his dream of acting

17: Shakespeare later became a play- writer, poet and actor after leaving his wife. Shakespeare wrote 37 plays and 154 sonnets. He was also involved in the Chamberlin's Men" acting company which was later named the Kings menin honor of King James III

18: Among the 37 plays, most were either histories, comedies, or tragedies, Inlcuding Romeo and Juliet, The Winters tale, and Hamlet. Shakespeare later became more famous and opened the Globe theatre in Southwark district of London. The Globe theater featured 2nd floor balcony, 3 stories high and was a hexagon shape. It was a magnificent structure. The theater opened on Septemeber 21 1599 and was later burned down after a cannon went off.

19: Shakespeare contributed a lot to the world and lived an extraordinary life and filled many of his dreams. He died in 1616 from an unknown cause
