FC: Flock Photos
This is the only picture of me playing basketball, I was 16 years old and I just got out of high school, this the summer of 1976. | Grerry, Kique & Chato, these three were the first group of kids that I began to coach. Gerry, Kique & Angel Thomas, Gerry never finished H.S. an accident prevent him to do so. Kique, I'm not sure I lost contact with him he moved out of town. Angel Thomas did and has a family, I can't imagen him today. His brother Tuti is one of my favorite people in this world. I wish I could be in contact with him and them.
Tito, Kique, Ed & Victor R, Again, I didn't like how the my first season as a Coach ended so I dedicated my weekend to work with my players for the next season. I think that's how everything started. Victor, knew how to play, but I think I improve his shot. I used to called him Perfect Shot, because this kid never missed a shot from outside. Tito was a utility player he came in and did his job. Kique was the perfect point guard, we think alike. The other boy Edwin Moserratt, learn to play basketball with me. But he only played one time. I really don't know what happened to him. | Mets 1980 Biddy Basketball City Champs Mets 1980, Biddy City Basketball league Champs. We were good me lost a game that year. But, in my book we were undefeated. Raul and Victor Were the best scorers of the team but the soul of the team was Kique, my point guard. Everyone else played well. The best game we played was the three overtimes game against the O'Neil team. I remember that game as f it happened yesterday. Sometimes I close my eyes and I can see it. I think it was that night that fell in love with basketball coaching. | Gredel 1979, Gredel, 1979, was my first basketball team, we played in a City League, organized by the City Hall Recreation Department. The uniforms were given to us by Pepe's granddad. His shoes store was our sponsor. The best players were Raul and Victor, my point guard was Kique but he is not in the picture.
This team I named it after the intramural team I played for at the UPR. They were the Guasos, 1980. I made it because of the players some were my neighborers andsome werethe brothers of my younger team. We were eliminated by O'Neil. My point guard here was Hengy Gonzalez, he was very good. The best player was Willie Gines, 6'3" boy in the back. | This was the next year team, a completely new team. The age of the City Champ changed by then, The league became younger. This was my second City League Championship, 1981. Machote, Luis Albors, #9, was sicked for the championship game. I was telling myself that we were going to lose because his mother have him in bed that morning. But he showed up, he was in the bench ready to play, he escape from his house so he could play that game. My boy Luis played the game of his life, I'm sure that in his long H.S. career was good, but the game that he remember the most it's that one. I never seen a player braking the other team press, that easy. Chino was the higher score of that game, but Machote was the MVP. I always going to love that kid. That was the game that will never forget. Jose Valentin (played for the New York Mets) stole the basketball from him one time only.
Mets Manati 1983 2nd place | Tito me dio esta foto de cuando jugo Small Fry en Arecibo no se el ano. Me quede con ella porque la inscricion de tras esta fuera de liga. | Manati Mini Basketball 1981 This is the first traveling team I ever coached, we put it together with all the talent we discovered during the season. I most say that I didn't behave here, I took the team from Jimmy Bou, a friend. But in those days I was very ambitious and I feel bad now. But this team was the catapult that lunched me to coach for the next seven years all those traveling teams. After this team I coached the novice league 15 -16 years old. I probably hands down the best team I ever coached 1983 Leche Frescha Team. Sadly I don't have picture of that team.
Segundo lugar en Torrimar Mini Basketball Invitacional , 1985 (creo) de los 30 llegamos segundo. | Pre-novicio BASKETBALL MANATI LLEGAMOS PRIMERO EN NUESTRA DIVISION This is 1984 Manati Leche Fresca Team, and I moving up my players, Vega Machote, Tuti, Chaguito, and Carlos Almaque showed up for the first time. We won six invitaionals that year, Corozal, St. Felipe de Arecibo, Nuestra Senora Del Rosario, Vega Baja High and St. Antonio of Isabella. This team takes any of the teams Taylor's JV played this year and will crime them. We pressed the entire game too. | Monteverde Academy 1990 Boys Varsity Team record, 13 - 11, That year we beat Lake Highland Prep, Florida Air Academy, Pine Castle Christian Academy, Taylor Middle High School, Grover High, Warner Christian Academy, Deltona Trinity Prep, Vanguar Academy and other school.
The Fab Five, I used a basic rotation of six players, this Kid didn't have talent, as many other teams I had in the past before them and after them, but man they listen better than any other team I have coached.
Kevin Leslie playing for Liberty Middle School | Montverde Acedemy 1990-91 Season. Bernardo Diaz & Kevin Ashley
St. Paul Catholic School 1998 Team, we came second in the regular season and in the tournament. Our lady of Lourdes won everything that year, as we did the next year. | This is Kevin Leslie (one of the Kevins). I taught this boy to play basketball. From "0" to be able to play point guard in his Middle School, High School and College. His College coach did him wrong, Kevin was 5'9" and he didn't play him as much as he deserve it. | Kevin Leslie, graduated from Colonial High. I taught him how to played. He was the starting point guard. I can teach this game and he made me proud. | St Paul vs LL, Chase is number 23
Chase Tramont, one of the best player I ever coached. | Taylor H.S Basketball Team 2007 | Number #23 was retired that year.
I was signing the national song to Patrick | Rodney Barngrover was probably one of the best shooters I have ever coached. He didn't play his Junior year and when he tried to make a comeback in his senior year it was too late for him. Still he knows the game of basketball very well. | My friend Coach David Wells. He was disappointed with what was happening at Taylor High School. The A.D. and the Principal of the school don't know shit. Taylor High School will never going to be a basketball school. | Chad Crosby, Perfect Shot, when he was on he was on.
